Dear Evan Hansen, today is going to be a good day, because

He paused. Why would today be a good day? It wouldn't be horrible, but it wasn't necessarily going to be good. How would he know what today would be like, anyway? It's not like he's physic - because it will be an adventure.

Doesn't sound like him, but okay.

He wasn't greeted by his mom once he walked out of his room, which combined with her late return last night worried him slightly. She had gotten a steadier job working at a diner, and she'd stopped her night classes to take an online course. But he knew it was probably nothing and he was just being paranoid, as usual.

So he walked to school, and as soon as he made it to his locker he felt someone tap him on the shoulder. He turned around, looking up because he expected it to be Connor but his gaze traveled down a bit when he realized it was Zoe, Alana and Jared fanned out behind her.

He blinked in confusion before stammering out a hesitant greeting, "H-hi?"

"Sup, Acorn." Jared said, seeming disinterested. Alana had her arms crossed and simply nodded at Evan.

"Hi, Evan," Zoe said, a small smile on her face.

"I-I don't want to be r-rude or anything, but, um, what do you want?"

"Well," Zoe placed her hand on her chest, "I'm here to apologize, and these two are here because they followed me for some reason."

"I'm here for the tea." Jared yawned, leaning against Alana , who put an arm around him and rolled her eyes.

"The tea?" Evan looked at Jared with a confused expression, and then turned back to Zoe. "Apologize for what?"

"For being so cold towards you, I gues-"

"Oh, n-no you don't need to apologize for t-that, that w-was totally d-deserved I mean I pretended to b-be friends with y-your brother who I thought was d-dead it's really not y-your fault, anyone w-wouldn've done the s-same, to b-be honest I wo-"

Zoe cut him off, "Yeah, but that's no excuse."

"Y-yes it is.. I m-manipulated you and your family," Evan muttered, biting his toungue to keep himself from falling apart. His stomach ached and he felt like he was going to pass out. He wished the ceiling would just collapse onto him.

"But you had good intentions. And I couldn't really see why Connor was so willing to forgive you until he explained it, and I can tell you're trying to do better. So," Zoe held out a hand to Evan, "I don't care anymore. I forgive you, too. You accept?"

Evan started to take her hand, but then wiped his hands off on his shirt because they were sweaty. Then he shook her hand.

"Damn, the tea was hot," Jared said, and everyone collectively sighed.
