"Thank you, noona," Bomin lifts his head a bit while lying to look at my face, I return it with a smile timidly.
"Good thing that you were there, if not he would have been still hurting on the ground for a long time." Jaehyun comes up to me and grins. "And it would cause him a lot of pain."
"Noona is the best," Bomin chuckles with a glint in his eyes.
I turn to Jaehyun, raising an eyebrow. "Shouldn't you be there? You should replace Bomin."
He shakes his head. "I would if I wanted to, but I'm too tired. Someone will fill in for him."
"Are we gonna win?"
Jaehyun shrugs, leaning on the wall. "We don't know if the others will pull it through, now that Bomin and I are gone."
"Wow, you're being extra cocky today," I comment and Jaehyun frowns.
"It's because I have something to be cocky about."
I ignore him, rolling my eyes and instead swerve my attention to the hurt player of our team. "Are you doing alright?"
With a shy nod and the pinking of his cheeks, he says, "Yes, thanks to you. Thank you for coming to me."
The doors to the school's clinic open and in comes Joochan. "Hey, Bomin, you okay?"
Bomin finally sits up as Joochan nears us. "I'm fine hyung, because of noona." He gives me another sweet grin and turn back to Joochan.
My heart pounds faster when Joochan sneaks a peek at me, but it was only for one second and he turns back to checking him.
"I'm happy she did," he remarks. "How's your foot?"
"Nothing serious, but I might have to absent from practice for at least a week." Bomin frowns, it was almost a pout.
"You know each other?" Jaehyun questions, pointing at the two. I also wanted to know why they're close.
"Hyung is my cousin." Bomin grins, his gums peeking out, and it was cute. His cuteness might even rival Jaehyun's.
Well that explains how they were close.
"The other team is gradually catching up with our score. It seems that without you guys, we're probably going to lose. We need you." Joochan says the last part a bit to soft for us to hear, staring at the clinic's walls.
Jaehyun's smirk makes a comeback and looks at me cheekily. "See? I was right."
"Did I ever say you were wrong?" I retort and sigh. "We need you back in the game. Probably they'll let you in again. Let's go?"
"Wait! I'll tell something to my hyungs first," Bomin proposes and I nod, backing away. Maybe it should be private? I don't know. But I see the younger whispering to both, then to each person, and finally retract, a big grin - or is it a smirk? - on his face. Both Jaehyun and Joochan's frowns were evident, a great contrast to Bomin's smiling face. But it fades away quickly.
"Go, hyung, you can do it," Bomin encourages and Jaehyun nods. "Fighting!"
"We better get going then, the last quarter's about to start." Joochan goes straight for the door and Jaehyun and I follow.
◑
"Bong Jaehyun!"
Never in a thousand years did I imagine that Joochan would cheer in a basketball game.
"Fighting, Bong Jaehyun!" He screams at the top of his lungs again and I look at him incredulously.
Especially Jaehyun's name.
"What has gotten into him?" I mutter under my breath and sigh as he continues to cheer.
Our roles were reversed now: he's the one being loud as fuck now and I'm the quiet one as of the moment. Probably because my throat hurts so much from yelling a while ago, and so I'm not cheering anymore. What's really weird is that Joochan is cheering for Jaehyun.
The scores were now tied. The next goal will determine the winner of this game. Everyone is agitated that they are on the edge of their seats, some are already standing to take a closer look.
Jaehyun looks more determined than ever. He didn't look cute now, in fact, his seriousness and focus while playing makes him.more manly and handsome. I swoon at how different he is when playing and when he is normally. I almost forget that Joochan is the person that I like. Almost.
The said player bolts through the court, focusing on the ball that the other team has. He successfully gets it and runs to the other side of the court, a victorious smile already on his face.
"If he shoots it, we'll win the game," Joochan tells me quite excitedly and I give him a dumb look.
"I fucking know that," I cross my arms and roll my eyes at his idiocity. Although, it is kind of adorable. I stare a bit more at how engaged he is right now at the game.
His eyes are shining, probably because he's very interested. I look at how his mouth is parted, how his hair is tousled into its place, how he was leaning forward to watch the game more, how he was on the end of his seat.
He suddenly curses out loud as he shakes me and points at the court, and that's when I realize what happened.
The crowd is more agitated when the other team steals the ball. Unfortunately - for us, it's benefiting for IU - Sunggyu successfully gets the ball from behind of Jaehyun and ran to the other side, aiming for the two-point shot that would earn them the win.
"No!" I shout out loud, eyes shot open. Jaehyun flickers his eyes to mine, a disappointed look on his face.
I glare at him. "What are you doing? Go get that win!"
Although I didn't yell it out loud enough for him to hear, he seems to get my point and quickly runs to catch up.
