◐ thirty-one point five ◑

After wandering through the halls of Joochan's house, occupied in his thoughts, Jaehyun hears muffled voices from a room nearby.

"The door's slightly open," Jaehyun murmurs. What a perfect chance to eavesdrop. Curious, he listens in the conversation.

"-I just thought that there was already something going on between you two."

"Isn't that Joochan's mother?" Jaehyun mumbles to himself. What are they even talking about?

"It's about time you two got togeth-"

A voice cuts her out. "Mrs. Hong! They might hear you!"

That must be MM.

"They might as well listen! I don't want them to charm you any further. If you ask me, I would want it if you and Joochan really end up marrying each other. Wouldn't that be nice? We'll be family."

"By they, does she mean Bomin and I?" Jaehyun whispers to no one in particular. "Also, does this mean Joochan's mother ships his son with MM?"

"I-I..." Minhee stammers.

The eavesdropper groans silently. "Why are you even stuttering, Moaning Minhee?"

"It's not as if you like Bomin and that Jaehyun man, don't you?"

"Now that's it," Jaehyun hisses. "It's like she's looking down on me as a potential partner for my MM! We go well together too, Joochan's mom."

But she's right, though. Jaehyun rebutts himself in his mind. It's already outh there that I'm not the one MM likes. Do I even have a chance?

"I always knew you've liked my son. I bet he also doesn't realize that he has feelings for you, too."

Jaehyun pales. Well, it's not like I was expecting anything, anyway. I already know there isn't the slightest bit of hope that MM and I would be together.

He slaps his cheeks to shake off the negative thoughts in his head. "No! They still haven't confessed to each other, they still aren't a couple. I can still do it. Yes, there still might be a chance. I won't back down. Not now."

With newfound conviction, he strides back to Bomin and Joochan, determination all over his face. "You'll be mine, Minhee. I'll prove Joochan's mom wrong."
