Do not fall in love with me,

long before you realize,
you were going to break mine.

I woke up to the sound of someone knocking on my door. I sat up and collected myself. I hopped off my bed. I weaved myself through the boxes on the floor and I headed to the door. I opened it to see Gabbie's smiling face. I rubbed my eye and smiled back at her.
"What's with all the boxes?" She asked walking in the apartment closing the door behind her.
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about, I'm moving." I said
"Oh, did you find a house you could rent instead of your studio?" She asked
"Not exactly, I'm moving back to Arizona." I explained looking at the floor in fear of her reaction.
"Yeah right, you hate Arizona." She laughed off the news
"I'm leaving in ten days I bought a one way. Can you break the news to everyone, especially David. I can't bring myself to tell anyone but you." I said sheepishly
"Wait you're serious?" She said looking concerned.
"Yeah." I said
"Wait why? You love it here." She said
"I can't do this anymore, it's all too much. I have to forget and get away." I said
"You can't run from your problems. You can't run from him. I'm not telling him. And if you can't tell him you're moving in person, then you're not leaving." She said referring to David
"Well then I guess he won't know I'm moving." I remarked
"That's not fair to him, and you know it." She stated softly
"I don't care." I lied
"I'm texting him to come here, and you're gonna have to tell him." She said pulling her phone out of her pocket and clicking her nails on the keys.
"Gabbie please, I can't see him again." I said desperately.
"You will see him one more time and then never again, I promise." She said sending the text to David
I knew I couldn't stop him from coming over so I looked in my mirror and quickly threw my hair up in a bun so I didn't look completely bad. I rubbed my eyes and sat on my bed, anxiously waiting for David to get here. Gabbie said next to me and patted my back in attempt to comfort me.
"You know, you wouldn't have to tell him you're leaving if you just stay." She said
"Staying is not an option." I said with a shaky tone
"Oh shut up, yes it is. I'm gonna miss you so much." She said hugging me
"I just wish me and him didn't fuck around, I wish we were only friends." I said

After a few minutes of making small talk with Gabbie I heard a knock on my door. My heart dropped to my stomach. I got up and answered the door to see David.
"Hey, Gabbie said you needed to tell me something." He said
"Yeah, I'm moving back to Arizona." I said with out hesitation
"Very funny, seriously what do you need?" He said
I pointed to all the boxes on the floor.
"I'm serious. I moving away." I said
He furrowed his brows and looked at me.
"What the fuck, why are you doing this?" He said a bit shocked and angered
"This Hollywood thing isn't for me." I lied
"You do realize I'm not letting you fucking leave right?" He said with a small chuckle walking into my apartment and opening up the boxes and unpacking them.
"David stop." I said walking over to him attempting to pull him away from the boxes. I
I was so invested in trying to get David away from the boxes I didn't notice that Gabbie had left. David stood up and put his hands on my shoulders firmly.
"Look Ava, I don't care if you have to cancel a goddamn plane ticket you're not leaving." He said looking me straight in the eye.
"No David, I already made my decision." I said pushing his hands off of me.
"I'll do anything. Please stay." He said with desperation
After a few seconds of silence I spoke up.
"Fine, if I stay, we can't fuck around. No kissing, no cuddling, no sleepovers, none of that bullshit. We gotta move on from each other. We are strictly friends." I said
He paused for a moment. He looked as if all the pigment in his skin had vanished.
"Anything to make you stay." He said
"Okay, can you help me unpack please." I said
"Sure."

We unpacked all the boxes in silence. Once we were done we folded all the boxes and put them away.
"Thank you for helping me." I said
"It's no problem." He said walking over to me and hugging me.
I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him tightly. As he was pulling away his eyes met mine. He leaned in to kiss me. I backed away.
"I already told you, I don't want to do that anymore." I said
"One more time, just once and never again." He said
I wrapped my arms around his neck as he grabbed my waist. His lips crashed into mine, for one last time. He pulled away from the kiss and I hugged him tightly.
"This is gonna suck." He said
"I know."
