The situation had turned out worse than Anna thought. It was not the first time she had been treated like this by people in her age, however she had to admit, she had not been expecting that. Anna had done her reading about Hogwarts and the four Houses. Slytherins were known for their supremacy opinions in the majority, but Anna was hoping Draco would be different. Anna looked around, desperately trying to find an empty seat, ignoring the curious looks she got from others. She could swear she felt a gentle nudge on her left arm, but when she looked, there was none there. To her relief, she entered a compartment with a couple of empty seats. She immediately recognised the 'Chosen One's' companions, the ginger-head guy and the brown-haired girl, but he was not with them. Instead, she saw a seemingly shy dark-haired boy holding a toad and a blonde girl wearing bizarre-looking glasses.
"Hello, there" greeted the blonde girl. Her voice was low and sweet. Everyone's attention turned to Anna. She tried to hold herself laughing at the surprised sound the redhead guy made, trying to chew and swallow the handful of sweets in his mouth. Nyx hissed and wiggled in her arms, making Anna notice an abnormally large orange cat on the brown-haired girl's lap. The girl quickly scolded her cat named 'Crookshanks'. The cat mewled annoyed and laid back down.
"Were you attacked by an Umgubular Slashkilter? They are vicious creatures...you definitely have lots of Wrackspurts around your head though", the blonde girl commented indolently.
"Err...I don't know what these are? Sorry..." Anna winced apologetically, confused with the girl's question. Oddly, she had never heard of such creatures and she had been doing a lot of research on magical and non-magical beasts. "I was actually attacked by a bunch of idiots, probably all Slytherins", she said rolling her eyes in the memory of the despicable people she had met this morning.
"Let me guess, Malfoy" the redhead assumed, indicating he had some history with him.
"How did you know?" Anna asked intrigued.
"He has quite a reputation" the brown-haired girl answered and then realised Anna was still standing, with her books and cat in her hands. She immediately moved close to the window giving Anna some space to sit. "How rude of us, here, take a seat. I am Hermione Granger"
"Ron Weasley" the redhead said.
"Er..Neville. Longbottom" the dark-haired guy said, holding his frog closer to his chest.
"Luna Lovegood" the blonde girl smiled and took her glasses off. Anna felt a wave of relief at their welcoming. She did not need any more drama for the day. However, Draco Malfoy was as welcoming as them at first, until he finds out about her lineage.
"Great to meet you all, my name is Anna Stone. Just to clarify, I am a muggle-born" Anna blurted out, more so to test the group's views early on. They giggled in turn, looking at each other in meaning.
"So am I. So that is what it was all about, huh" Hermione said smiling. "I have heard the same and maybe worse than the 'M' word from that particular group of people. I have never seen you at Hogwarts, are you new?" Anna released the long breath she had not realised she had been holding and instantly felt more comfortable. She had finally found some normal people on the train. Anna offered Hermione the same explanation she had given to Malfoy and the others.
