Autumn

Over the weekend I just stayed in my room on my laptop and then slept. Literally. That's all I did all weekend. I didn't talk to anyone. I wasn't in the mood.

The pained feeling in my chest was still there, and I still felt like someone punched right through my chest. Why am I feeling like this? We weren't together, we never even did anything together. We were merely acquaintances.

When Monday came I made no effort to get up and ready for school, but my mom was off from work so she made me.

"Come on, sweetie." She cooed while lightly shaking me. "You have to get ready for school."

"No." I mumbled into my pillow, my voice muffled.

"Yes, now get up." She demanded, ripping my blanket off me.

A chill came over my body and I curled into a ball to try to create some warmth, but it didn't work very well. "Moooom." I whined.

"Up." She said sternly. "Now."

I sighed and stood up from my bed, snatching my blanket back and tossing it on my bed. "There, I'm up."

My mom nodded. "Good, breakfast will be done in a few minutes." Then she strutted off out of my room.

My mom is the sweetest woman you'll ever meet, but she can also be stern and tough when she wants to be.

I trudged over to my closet and opened it, scanning over the clothing inside. I decided to wear a gray tank-top that says "Normal Is Boring" and black leggings with my black converse. Once I was changed I went downstairs and into my kitchen. My mom was just finishing the food and was grabbing a plate.

My mom looked over at me, she gasped and her eyes widened in feigned shock. "It's alive!"

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah yeah, whatever."

She let out a small laugh and scooped some scramble eggs onto the plate she grabbed. She added a couple pieces of bacon to it and then handed it to me. "Here y'go." She said. "Enjoy."

"Thanks, mom." I said, sending her a small smile before sitting down at the table.

As much as I didn't want to eat, I ate my food anyways, knowing my mom would throw a fit if I didn't. After I was done eating I went back upstairs and fixed my hair and brushed my teeth. When I finished doing that I slipped a beanie over my head, grabbed my phone, and slipped my bag over my shoulder.

When I got to school I immediately went to my locker, ignoring all the stares I was receiving.

"Hey girl!" my friends said from behind me.

"Hi." I mumbled, searching my locker for my history book.

"You okay?" Amy asked, leaning against the locker beside mine.

I nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine." I took out my textbook and shut my locker, turning to face my friends. I looked past them and saw Jason walking down the hall towards his locker. He looked at me for a second, but quickly looked away and quickened his pace, stopping at his locker. "I gotta go." I said, quickly walking away.

I walked into Ms. Brown's class and took my seat, opening my textbook to the page we have to read for bell work. When the bell rang everyone filed into the class, including Jason. He casually walked in and sat down beside me, kicking his feet up on his desk.

"Feet down, Mr. McCann." Ms. Brown demanded.

Jason groaned in annoyance, but obliged and set his feet down on the floor under his desk. He mumbled a few swear words under his breath and crossed his arms over his chest.
