Convincing Yun Hee to meet Taehyung was a daunting task. Su Jin was grateful Hyo Rin needed a distraction and took the opportunity to pester Yun Hee into agreeing to see him. It all seemed fine a dandy until Su jin remembered she would have to be a mediator between the two. Yun Hee was distressed over having to meet with her husband and even more worried about having to finally sit down with Yoo Na and talk to her about her real father.
To make matters worse, Hoseok wouldn't even be able to help keep Taehyung stable because he had just been promoted at work and was a lot more busy than he ever had been before. Working late, working weekends, it was like he was never home anymore. Su Jin had to deal with her two teenagers and crazy friends all on her own. Hoseok wasn't there to pull her into a hug and reassure her everything would be okay. He was barely around and usually exhausted when he was home, she didn't want to put even more pressure on him. She had to take on everyone else's problems on her own.
Hyo Rin agreed to help mediate Yun Hee and Taehyung. Helping out Yun Hee with her drama was better than sitting around dumbfounded or crying over the fact the love of her life had just left her for someone else. One of his best friends, another man no less. Yun Hee was almost a welcome distraction for her.
When Su Jin told Taehyung that his former bride was willing to finally meet and talk with him, he remained unusually calm and said to arrange it as soon as possible. So that's what they did, they made it happen quicker than Yun Hee liked and not nearly fast enough for Taehyung. He wanted to have that meeting years ago. They agreed to meet at Su Jin's place, since all the kids would be in school when it was happening and it was neutral territory.
Taehyung arrived an hour early and kept pacing around the living room. Su Jin had to try and keep him calm while Hyo Rin dragged Yun Hee over, arriving fifteen minutes late. When they knocked on the door Taehyung flew onto the couch, trying to not hyperventilate as he sat quietly. Su Jin had to brace herself before she opened the door, not sure what kind of storm was about to be unleashed in her living room.
"Taehyung... It's been awhile." Yun Hee gave him a small smile and a nod as she took a seat in an adjacent chair. Taehyung sucked in a a breath, holding it in while he stared at her.
Su Jin had to nudge him to get him to breathe again. "Y-yun Hee... I... wow. This is hard."
Yun Hee nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it is."
"Sooo want to talk about Yoo Na?" Hyo Rin interjected. The estranged couple just looked at each other in fear. Taehyung wanted to get to know his daughter but knew she had no idea who he was. Yun Hee was terrified of what would happen once Yoo Na found out.
"She doesn't know who I am... right?" Taehyung asked, twiddling his thumbs.
"No... she doesn't remember you. I'm sorry. She has someone else who she thinks of as a father. He's been really great to her and he wants to stay in her life even if you come back in."
Taehyung's face contorted in a weird way, losing some of his nervousness. "Someone else she thinks of as a father? But I'm her father."
Su Jin rubbed his arm, trying to make sure he remained calm. "No one is saying you're not her father Tae, Yun Hee is just saying that Ji Yong is going to want to remain in Yoo Na's life as well."
Yun Hee sighed heavily, fidgeting around as she prepared for the impact of her next words. "I also need to tell you something else Tae. I'm not with Ji Yong... We haven't been in a relationship of any kind for years. However... I have moved on. I had a child with someone else and we have been together since."
Taehyung just sat there staring her, no emotion readable on his face. "Don't say it. Anyone but him Yun Hee."
"It's Jimin..."
Su Jin and Hyo Rin covered their ears as Taehyung shot up from his seat, screaming at Yun Hee. He lost his shit and was going off on her, telling her he should have known all along that they'd end up together. Asking why she even bothered to marry him in the first place if she was going to just end up with Jimin in the end. Yun Hee tried to argue her point that she made the choice to be with Taehyung, that she loved him at the time but he ruined it. Taehyung wasn't having it.
Taehyung yelling at Yun Hee only grated on her nerves, he yelled until she stood up herself, getting in his face to yell back. They screamed at each other, venting out every frustration they had about the other. Su Jin and Hyo Rin just watched, trying to stay out of the line of fire. They were prepared for the explosion. There was no way those two would have been able to remain calm and civil during such a heavy topic. They were both hurt and angry, still holding onto the past that they had worked so hard to move on from.
After an hour had passed and the pair were still passionately yelling at each other, Hyo Rin and Su Jin excused themselves to the kitchen. They had to get away from the screaming at least for a moment.
"They could probably scream at each other for a week straight and not tire out!" Hyo Rin groaned, rubbing the side of her head that was aching from all the loud noise.
"It's going to be a long day. They have to get it off their chests though. There's a lot of baggage there to be sorted through." Su Jin peeked around the corner to make sure they weren't strangling each other, rolling her eyes when she saw them stomping their feet and flailing their hands around like children.
By the end of Taehyung and Yun Hee's mini therapy session Su Jin and Hyo Rin had to conduct, they had both agreed to the terms of his meeting Yoo Na and being introduced as her real father. Taehyung wasn't happy, he was furious that Yun Hee had moved on and had another child with Jimin of all people. The man he had been paranoid about proved to still hold a place in Yun Hee's heart and no matter how many different ways she tried to explain that it wasn't what he thought, Taehyung felt betrayed. Not only by Yun Hee but by Jimin, the man he had considered a friend for so long.
It didn't end on a good note. Yun Hee and Taehyung were both pissed off and ready to still try and kill each other. Both originally planning to apologize to the other, ended up nearly in a brawl. Hyo Rin was glad to have the distraction, saying Yun Hee and Taehyung always provided the best drama.
Su Jin was exhausted by the end of the day and just ready to curl up on the couch with Hoseok. A healthy dose of cuddles from her husband would do her some good. Yet when Su Jin woke up on the couch, two hours past the time Hoseok was usually home, a feeling of dread washed over her. Where is he!?
She pulled out her phone, trying to call him but only getting his voicemail. Text, no response. She called his office who said he had already gone out for the day. She continued to call his phone over and over until it was finally picked up.
"HOBI! Where are you!?"
"Excuse me, miss. Do you know the owner of this phone?" A female voice asked on the other line. Su Jin immediately felt her fingertips go numb.
"Yes! I'm his wife, who are you??" She shrieked into the phone.
"I'm sorry... I'm going to have to ask you to come to the hospital. Your husband was in an accident."
Everything stopped around her. No. No he has to be okay. He can't be hurt.
