Su Jin ran into the emergency room, both her children in tow. She had to wake them up in the dead of night and tell them their father was in the hospital and they needed to see him immediately. She had no idea what had happened or if he was even okay. So many scenarios were going through her head and she felt sick at the idea of all of them.
"Excuse me, I'm looking for my husband. Jung Hoseok??" She asked the nurse working at the reception area. Before the woman had time to look him up, another woman came up beside Su Jin and her kids.
"You're Hoseok's wife?" She asked, her eyes wide and full of fear as she looked at the woman. Su Jin turned to face her, seeing a woman probably ten years younger than her, in a too tight dress that looked like she was just at the club. A sick feeling rose up inside of her. Why is this woman asking about me being Hobi's wife!?
"I am... who are you?"
"I-I'm so sorry... I didn't think this would happen. We went to dinner to discuss work and he offered to give me a ride home. I wouldn't have accepted if I knew he had a wife waiting at home for him and-"
"Who the hell do you think you are!?" Hye Su piped up, glaring at the woman that was obviously upsetting her mother. She was clearly not a good person, trying to upset her mother who was already incredibly freaked out.
Su Jin would have normally scolded her daughter for such an action, but she just raised a brow at the woman in question instead. Hye Su had said exactly what Su Jin was thinking and she wasn't going to be upset with her daughter for speaking to this woman in a disrespectful way.
The woman gaped back at them, looking fake shocked at the two teenagers glaring at her from behind Su Jin. "I'm Nina... I'm Hoseok's boss."
Su Jin's head was spinning at her words. Hoseok's new promotion meant he had a new higher up to report to. Yet she never imagined it to be some young bimbo looking woman in flashy clothes. Trying to insinuate that Hoseok had failed to tell her he was married. "Nina, I just want to see my husband. So if you'll take me to him?"
Nina bit down on her lip nervously, eyes darting to the floor as she moved around. Su Jin finally noticed the cut marks on her arms and fresh bruises. "You can't... I told the hospital I was his fiancee so they'd let me see him and know what was happening. They won't let anyone else but me back there."
"You did what!?" Su Jin shrieked, her voice reverberating off the walls of the ER.
"H-he was badly injured and I was really scared! I'm sorry, I just wanted to make sure he was okay. They said he has a collapsed lung and a couple broken ribs. He's going to have to stay here to be treated. They won't take any more visitors until he is transferred to a different unit. As I said, he was giving me a ride home and some other car, I think they were drunk, crashed into us."
"So you're telling me... I can't see my husband who is seriously injured... because you lied to the hospital!?" Su Jin sneered, her children grumbling in agreement behind her.
Nina huffed, grabbing Su Jin by the arm and tugging her away from the teenagers. Saying she needed to talk to her in private and waving the kids to go have a seat. Not that either of them were going to listen to that woman. Nina gave Su Jin a sad, pitiful look as she rounded the corner and came to a stop.
"Look... I didn't know he had a wife, okay? Things would have never gone so far with us if I knew." She explained, her fake sincerity never meeting her eyes.
Su Jin was finally catching on to what Nina was trying to get at. "Are you trying to tell me you're having an affair with my husband!?"
Nina just gave her another look of pity as she nodded. "I'm so sorry..."
