Karoline's POV

God the flight was exhausting but talking to the family made it better.

Right now I am actually in my apartment. Noah had some guy called Jake pick me up. My house was already well furnished so I didn't have to do much. My apartment has 2 bedrooms, sitting room, kitchen and a balcony where you could see the busy streets of New York. It was small compared to the house that I used to live in.

So I decided to freshen up. Once I was done, I started unpacking my clothes and all. I was just going out to go for grocery shopping since the kitchen cupboards were empty and I needed to cook something for dinner, the door bell rang. 'Who will it be right now ' I thought. Ad I opened the door I was welcomed with a hug from a woman who seemed to be in her mid thirties. She was hugging tightly making it hard for me to breath so I started coughing a bit.

"Mom, you might kill her with your hug." Someone said.

"Oh shut up." The woman replied as she moved a bit and then I noticed a girl standing behind her with some food in her hand. She seemed to be of my age.

"Oh I am so sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I am lily and this is my daughter, Taylor." She said

"Umm..hey I am Karoline with a K Mrs-"I awkwardly said.
"Johnson, there is no need for formalities. You can call me lily."she said and I nodded.
"Please come in." I said opening the door wider so that they could enter. As they sat lily asked" are you going to live here alone?"
"Yeah I actually came here for my studies. My dad wanted me to study in New York." I answered.
"So which high school will you go to?"Taylor asked me.
"Westbrook high school. I am even 2 weeks late since it opened 2 weeks earlier. I was gonna come that time but I was caught up in some work"
"Really that's amazing because even I go to Westbrook."she squealed.
"Wow seems like I already made a friend in high school." I said as I gave her a genuine smile. I liked her. I don't know why but its like she is another Sophi.
"Trust me, even I had been wondering what I would do in that high school without anyone. It becomes really boring you know."she said
"I think we should get going as I have to prepare dinner. It was really nice meeting you Kate." Lily said.
"It was nice meeting you too lily but if you don't mind can I take Taylor with me for grocery shopping. I mean you know I am new here so I don't know most of the places if she could come it would be a great help that's if you don't mind"I said a bit nervously.
She laughed and said" of course. You don't have to ask me permission honey and you have to come home for dinner"
"On no no that won't be necessary." I quickly said.
"I am not asking you sweetheart I am telling you. No more excuses." She said in a serious tone.
"Okayyy" I said as I held my hands in the air like I am surrendering myself and we all laughed.

We went to my garage to get the car. I had a car and ma bae ( the bike ) yes I actually brought my bike from San Francisco to New York.

"is that yours?" Taylor asks me with a shocked face.
"Yup" I replied popping the p.
She stared at me with a blank face and her jaw dropping to the ground which was quickly covered by a wide smile.
"That's awesome"
"You can ride it if you want to" I said.
"Really?" She asked as she pulled in a hug without my reply and murmured a soft thank you. I don't know why but something about Taylor just attracted me towards her. I felt like she was now my responsibility and I had the sudden urge to protect her like my sister.....
