Alex's POV

I'm sitting at my desk when my phone rings. I pick up my phone and answer, "Hello?" A young woman is on the other line. "Hello. Are you Alexander Hamilton?" she asks calmly. "Yes, I am." I respond. Then I get the horrible news.

John's in the hospital. My John is in the hospital. Apparently, he got into a fender bender on his way home from work and fell into a comma. "Can I see him?" I ask, worried. Thank god the lady said yes.

I jump up and run out the house. I head to the hospital as fast as I can. After about 15 minutes, I make it to the hospital and go up to John's room. He's laying peacefully in his hospital bed, multiple machines hooked up to him.

I sit down in the chair next to the hospital bed, gently taking John's hand. "Please wake up soon.." I mumble, gently kissing John's knuckles.

I don't leave John's side. I'm worried sick and upset, so of course, I barely get an sleep. The nurse recommended that I get a good amount of sleep, but I ignore her. I'm too worried about John to think about myself.

After what seems like weeks, John wakes up. But there's one BIG problem.. He can't remember anything. He doesn't remember me or our blooming relationship. I could tell he was uncomfortable, so I left. I knew John would be better off without me now that he can't remember me.

I stay locked up in my room for the next few weeks. John's still in the hospital recovering. I wish there was a way for John to remember me. That's when an idea sparks in my head. I'll leave him a bouquet of Forget-me-nots.

I walk into the florist shop, looking for Forget-me-nots. Memories slowly play through my head as I search.

*Flashback*

"Alex, wait up!" John yells as he runs behind me. I stop in a huge field of flowers. I turn to John, smiling. John stops, looking around, "Woah! This is amazing!" I sit down, pulling John down with me. John lets out a surprised squeak. Cute. "Heyyy! What was that foooor?" John asks, crossing his arms.

I chuckle softly, "I just wanted to cuddle with you and enjoy the view!" John blushes slightly. I smile, pulling John close. "I love you.." I say, running a hand through John's fluffy hair. "I love you too.." John replies, snuggling into my side.

After a while, I lean over and pick a pretty Forget-me-not. I place the flower in John's hair. "Aww!" John exclaims, feeling the flower, "Is it a Forget-me-noooot?" I nod, smiling, "Your favorite." He smiles up at me, "My absolute favorite!!"

"Yeah. Your absolute favorite."

*Flashback End*

I buy a bouquet of Forget-me-nots and head to the hospital. When I walk into John's room, he's fast asleep. I smile. I quietly set the flowers down on the bedside table along with a small note.

I lean over, gently kissing John on the forehead. "Your absolute favorite.." I mumble before walking out of his room. I spend the rest of the day just wandering around the city, lost in my thoughts.

John's POV

I slowly wake up when I hear my hospital room door close. I sit up slightly, rubbing my eyes, "Huh..?" I notice a bouquet of Forget-me-nots on the bedside table with a little note. I think for a moment before picking up the note and opening it. I read the note to myself.

Forget me. Forget me not. Just know I'll never forget you and will always love you.

-Alex

I slowly close the note, setting it down beside the Forget-me-nots. I gaze at the beautiful flowers. "My absolute favorite..." I say quietly.

3rd Person POV

After John got out of the hospital, he slowly began remembering things all because of the Forget-me-nots. Once he regained his entire memory, he set out to find Alex. He searched the entire city before coming across his house that he lived in with Alex.

John approaches the door and knocks. A short man with dark brown hair pulled up in a messy ponytail answers the door. "Alex.." I mumble.

Alexander had spent the entire time cooped up in his house. He looked horrible. There were bags under his eyes, his hair was dirty, and he was really skinny. Alex was caught off guard when he opened the door to see John.

After a moment of gazing at one another, the two lovers embraced each other tightly, both beginning to cry tears of joy. They missed each other. They loved each other.

Forget-me-nots became Alex's favorite flower too. Because Forget-me-nots brought his John back to him, though it took time. John has always loved Forget-me-nots, but now he loves them even more. They helped him remember everything.

Alex and John are reunited and live a long and happy life together. They get married, adopt a child named Phillip, and watch him grow up together. When Alex died, John and Phillip visited his grave almost every day. John always kept Forget-me-nots in the house somewhere to remember Alex forever.

Once John died, Phillip made sure to place Forget-me-nots on both of their graves. He also kept Forget-me-nots in his house. When his wife, Theodosia, asked why he kept those flowers around, he simply said, "To remember things that I should never forget."

Phillip will never forget what his fathers' graves said.
