Assalam O Aalikum is the Muslim way of greeting. It means 'Peace be upon you' we add Warahmatullahi Wabarakatahu at times which means 'May Allah's mercy and peace and blessings be upon you'
The reply for this Salam or greeting is Walekum Assalam which means 'And peace be upon you' we can add Warahmatullahi Wabarakatahu if we want in the reply to.
It is one of the rights of Muslim over another Muslim.
"When you greeted with a greeting, greet in return with what is better than it, or (at least) return it equally." (An-Nisa 4:86)
