Halal is an Arabic term meaning "permissible".
It has both a general and specific meaning.
When people use the word in Islamic countries, they usually mean to say what is allowed by Islamic Law.#DuaOfTheDay
Subhana-alladhi sakh-khara la-na hadha wa ma kunna la-hu muqrinin. Wa inna ila Rabbi-na la munqalibun.
Glory unto Him Who created this transportation, for us, though we were unable to create it on our own. And unto our Lord we shall return.

Narrated Abu Musa:
A son was born to me and I took him to the Prophet (ﷺ) who named him Ibrahim, did Tahnik for him with a date, invoked Allah to bless him and returned him to me. (The narrator added: That was Abu Musa's eldest son.)

Narrated Salman bin 'Amir Ad-Dabbi:
I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying, "'Aqiqa is to be offered for a (newly born) boy, so slaughter (an animal) for him, and relieve him of his suffering."

It was narrated that 'Aishah said:
"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded us to sacrifice two sheep for a boy's 'Aqiqah and one sheep for a girl."[Ibn Majah]
