Jesse's POV

There he was. Ready to fight, he stood strong with a heavy gaze on us. Aiden was back. He was back and thirsty for revenge. Lukas and I happened to be patrolling the town, making sure nothing was wrong, but boy was there something wrong. Just one sight of Aiden was enough for my instincts to kick in. My hand rested on the hilt of my sword in silent warning. Aiden either didn't notice or didn't care about my gesture and took a few paces forward. I drew my sword, as did Lukas, and we got into our fighting stances.

I knew Aiden wanted to fight. He wanted to get back at us for locking him up in Sky City. I beat him once... I could probably do it again, a solid knock down on his jealousy.

I was about to launch forward and attempt to slash him, but he knows my combat techniques and took action, twisting out of harms way. The battle has begun. Aiden tried to take a jab at me, but I dodged his attack and retaliated, trying to disarm him. He blocked my attack and scrambled backwards out of my reach.

Lukas went up behind him and tried to fight him that way, but Aiden heard tge crunching of leaves underfoot and swiftly turned around, locking swords with Lukas. I took this chance to slash at him but he pulled out another sword from his inventory and blocked my attack.

He's stronger than I remember. I looked between Lukas and Aiden, thinking up a plan. For the first time since the battle, I spoke.

"Lukas! You have to get that sword away from him! I need an opportunity!"

Lukas nodded in understanding and tried to fling the sword out of Aiden's grasp. With an audible 'clang,' the sword landed on the cobblestone path. Aiden cursed under his breath and turned to face Lukas, who was standing a few feet away from him.

Lukas's POV

I was staring right into Aiden's furious, blazing eyes. Sweat trickling down my face, I got ready to attack, lowering myself into a defensive stance. Jesse was still struggling to free her sword from Aiden's lock.

She managed to free it and aimed her weapon to Aiden. Jesse stiffened and her muscles tensed as she sprung forward, swinging her sword down towards Aiden. He rolled out of the way just as the sword slashed down, about to leave its mark, missing him by a few inches. While Jesse recovered, I dashed towards Aiden, a battle cry escaping my lips as I used all my might to bring Aiden down. Again and again, Jesse and I fought our enemy, missing closely each time. We got a few hits in, but so did Aiden.

Battered and bruised, we were all running low on steam.

"Is that all you got?" He said, a little out of breath.

"Are you kidding? We're just getting started!" Jesse exclaimed.

I was kinda hoping that this war would just end, but Jesse thinks otherwise... she really wants to defeat him. I'm gonna fight by her side until we are victorious or vanquished, no matter how tired I am, because... for the one I love, I will do anything.

We've been fighting for what feels like hours now and no one has the slightest idea of backing down, despite the exhaustion. Our weapons are almost worn out and our bodies have been quite battered and bloodied. In general, we are a mess.

Being messy is the least of my concern now. Jesse got injured not too long ago and isn't looking too good. Her movements as well as her reactions are slow. I had to block a few of Aiden's attacks for her because it seemed a fraction of her mind was focused elsewhere.

It was getting late. The sun had dipped below the horizon, replaced by the moon and smokey clouds in the night sky. A storm was brewing and a cold breeze hit our hot, sweaty bodies. I, personally, welcomed the coolness.

Jesse's POV

I felt the battle slowly coming to an end. The weather had changed fairly quickly.

We haven't said much during the battle as we were too busy concentrating on the fight. My sword was almost worn out when Aiden came up beside me and flung my sword out of my reach. I was knocked to the ground easily as I was injured. Aiden lifted his sword above his head and glared down at me, daring me to fight back. I was about to accept my fate, shutting my eyes tight, resdy to give up, when his sword came whisking down to my body.

I was waiting for pain to seer though me as I just lay there. It never came. I slowly opened my eyes to see a blonde above me... with a sword protruding through his back. He fell onto me as he was losing consciousness. Tears welled up in my eyes at the sight, almost instinctively.
Anger boiled inside of me when I heard Aiden laughing slyly. I carefully set Lukas down next to me and took the iron sword that was still in his grip. I stood up, adrenaline pulsing through my veins, a newfound strength as my hatred fueled me. I approach Aiden. I will make him pay.

He turns to walk away, satisfied with his work. I stalk after him, iron grip on my sword.
I sprinted to him, forgetting about the pain from my wound, penetrating him. He stopped. Fell to his knees and looked down to his chest to see the cold iron protruding from him, then weakly spoke.

"Well... done... I didn't think... you had it... in you..." he managed to say before falling to the ground. Lifeless and a bloody mess. I stared down at him a moment, seeing him in his own pity, a pool of red consuming him.

I avert my eyes to Lukas. Running back to where I left him, I sat down beside him, using my knees for a sort of support for his head all while holding his cold hand. He was still breathing but his breaths were very shallow and weak. He opened his eyes and looked at me in sadness.

"Lukas...please don't leave me." I say as my voice cracks.

"I- I'm s-s-sorry...Jesse..." he said weakly.

"No! Lukas, please don't do this to me! We can still get help. Just stay with me!" I started crying now.

I was about to lose the love of my life. My... my best friend. I can't imagine life without him.

"I'm afraid that I won't be staying...much longer...can I-I t-tell you something?" He chokes out.

I nod, tears rolling down my cheeks. He raises his hand and wipes them away with his thumb and moves his hand to the back of my head, pulling me closer to his face, resting my forehead against his. It started raining as our lips touched. The kiss was broken when Lukas fell limp and his hand fell from my face. I opened my eyes to look at him.

The tears kept coming as rain poured down around us. I couldn't control myself. My walls just broke. At least I got to kiss him before he left me...but that doesn't help.

I want to feel his lips again in the future...but that's impossible. I start hugging his still form, clutching his shirt and cried into his chest. Just as my life was becoming perfect... it all fell apart at the hands of another.

Anyone get the feels with this? I know I did when I wrote it. Sorry that updates are slow but I'm just so busy or can't be bothered to write if I have spare time. I can't say for sure how often I'll update but it will definitely be quicker than usual. Anyway, I don't want to keep you so I'll end it here.

Until the next request. Byeeeeee!
