Sun Kissed

Quick note before the story starts - both Jesse's are in this part, so male Jesse will be called Jay, also it's Jesse's POV throughout the chapter.

•Jesse's POV•

My feet were sinking into the soft sand in the early morning on the beach, leaving a trail of footprints from where I was walking along the water. A fresh breeze ruffled my hair and the calming scent of the waves hit me, filling me with peace. The crash of waves and the crisp air slowly waking me.

I woke up early, before the rest of the gang, just to get away for a bit. Don't get me wrong, I love their company more than anything, but sometimes it's nice to have a few hours to myself.

I watched as the sunrise painted the horizon with delicate pink hues, the rays kissing the sky as it rises. The beach was quiet from hassling people. It was just me and the melody of nature.

A few hours pass and the sun was a little ways into the sky by now. I sat in the shade of a tree on a sand dune, overlooking the water. By now, people came strolling onto the vast beach, picking a place to set an umbrella and a few towels. Amoung the scattered groups, I saw my friends. I get up, dusting sand from my clothes and make my way down to them.

"Morning everyone! How did you sleep?" I asked as I reached them.

"Hey, Jesse. We slept fine. I figured you'd be down here, seeing as you weren't at the house." Jay spoke first.

"Nature is my happy place." I say with a smile as I make my way to talk to the others.

Olivia and Axel are already in their swim suits and are halfway down to the water. I cup my hands and raise them to my mouth and shout after them;

"Hello to you too, guys!" I laugh as they wave over their shoulders and splash around in the waves.

I turn back to my remaining friends and see Petra straightening a towel on the sand and lay back on it, careful not to get any grains of sand on her towel. Probably trying to catch a tan, that's all she ever really does at the beach. Either that or tackling people in the water, trying to win a free drink. Classic Petra...always the one keeping things interesting. Jay was off to one side, sitting in the shade reading a book... I will never understand why people read books at the beach... there's so much more to do! You go outside to have fun, not read... well I mean, I read outdoors, but never at the beach!

Lastly, my eyes land on Lukas. He is standing alone, watching the hustle of day spring to life as morning drains to day. I walk up to stand next to him, looking out to sea.

He glances my way before appraising the landscape again. The delicate sea breeze ruffling his hair.

"Hey." He said suddenly.

"Hey. What's up? Something on your mind?" I ask him

He doesn't move or say anything... almost as if he were thinking... very deeply...

"...You could say that. But you don't have to worry, it's nothing bad. Just... debating with myself here."

He replies after a short while.

"And what's that? Anything I can help you with?"

"Nah it's cool. Anyway, I haven't seen you for a while."

"Yeah, it has been long, come to think of it... how's your book coming along?" I ask.

"It was great.......until writers block came knocking on my door and invited itself into my head." (Same Lukas, same)
I stifle a giggle and he finally looks over at me. His crystal eyes staring into mine. His eyes told a thousand stories. Displayed hundreds of emotions, yet only one stood out to me.

Longingness.

"Wanna take a walk with me? I saw a great spot to hang out on my way down here. Then I'll tell you what I was thinking about." He asked me.

"Sure." I simply replied.

We started walking side by side in the water under the warm rays of the sun, the waves lapping over our ankles. His t-shirt was draped over his shoulder, exposing his muscular figure.

Don't stare Jess...don't stare. You're gonna make it obvious that you like him.

I averted my gaze from him before he even noticed I was looking and spotted something in the wet sand.

"Hey look!" I say pointing to a shell that was slowly being pulled back into the sea.

I grab it before it vanishes and examine the beautiful exterior of the shell before handing it to Lukas so that he can also look at it.

"Pretty. Do you want to keep it or should we throw it back?" He asked as he handed it back to me.

"Well I don't have anything to carry it in so maybe we can return it to the ocean." I replied.

He nodded and I gently set the shell down to be claimed by the waves.

Lukas had told me to close my eyes as we approached the spot that he wanted to show me.

"Ok. You can open your eyes in 3... 2... and... open!"

At that moment I open my eyes to be greeted by a quaint little picnic set up in the opening, basking in the sunlight in a grove of palm trees.

I clamp one hand over my mouth and stare at the setting.

"Awww Lukas this is so sweet!" I say in awe.

"Thanks. Took a lot of effort to bring all this stuff down here. But that's not the only reason I brought you here." He said as a smile plastered his face.

We walked over to the blanket and sat down.
"This was so thoughtful, Lukas! What did you want to talk about?" I asked.

"Weeeeell. Uh you see, um. There's this girl... that I like... and I want to ask her out. How do you think I should approach the question?" He asked.

That's what he wanted to talk about? Seriously?!

I gave the question some thought.

"Well it depends on what she's like. If I had to be asked out, I would just want him to be straight forward." I answered.

He looked a little stressed. He took a deep breath and said,

"Ok. Well, I like you Jesse and I'd like to take you out on a date... if you will accept, that is?" He said, his face burning with blush.

I looked at him with a huge grin on my face.

"Well how can I say no to that cute face!" I laughed as I launched towards him, capturing his lips in a kiss.

"Phew! For a second I thought you were gonna say no!" He said, staring into my eyes.

"Just shut up and kiss me again, you dork!"
