A/N: Bit late in the week, my bad, been busy on my Polyvore substitute XD
Kirstie hears the front door shut as she cries into her absorbent fur babies. But that slam forces her upright and Olaf and Pascal to attention. She doesn't care how mad she is at Avi right now, she can't let him go out there alone, not in this state, and not fresh out of rehab.
Kirstie fights her way out of her duvet and into her boots. She tells the dogs to stay then runs for her coat and the door. With the jacket half on her she spits fur-collar from her mouth and locks the door. She sprints down the hallway and into the lift that only takes forever when you're in a rush. She can't find him in the lobby and in her haste she left her phone behind, not that he'd answer because he's notorious for that.
So again she runs, runs out of the building, and she swears she sees him. Dark curly hair, out under a beanie, leather jacket, Avi! Kirstie catches up to him and grabs his shoulder. She skirts back with fear when he turns to her with no beard and as a woman.
"What?" The lady asks rather rudely.
"Nothing, I thought you were someone else, sorry," Kirstie apologises. The woman walks away and Kirstie inwardly groans, how the hell is she supposed to find Avi in New York City? She knows he's in the area, but what if she's looking for him in one direction and he gets twice as far the other way. She is full blown worried now.
As the crossing goes and the people disperse, at least a little, she notices a bench, someone is sitting there, but there is still enough room to stand. So she does, climbs on the bench and scans the area. But why can't Avi be someone that's easier to spot? He's wearing all black, like 90% of the people out here, and his hair is dark: again, like 90% of the people out here. The beanie doesn't help because it's winter for Christ's sake.
She's stressing, she wants to pulls her hair out, Avi is currently her responsibility and she's letting him down. Her heart leaps when she thinks she spots him again, but it's that woman, because no beard, damn it. Kirstie can feel the tears coming back, it's never heard though when you've just been crying, but she just doesn't know what to do next. Where does she start looking? The bars, strip clubs, wherever they sell weed? Is weed even legal in New York? She doesn't know. And how quickly does he work, if he's not going for a high first how quickly can he get a girl? How quickly is she going to play into his game and fall for his charm?
She jumps off the bench with a new thought, why isn't she giving him the benefit of the doubt? Why is she just assuming that he's fallen off the wagon already? Avi was ready for change, he said so himself, maybe he's just gone for a walk to cool himself down after their argument? That's a very Avi thing to do.
Kirstie sits down on the bench that the other person has now abandoned with a small smile testing at her lips. She likes this idea so much better. Kirstie is going to give Avi the benefit of the doubt. If she's wrong they'll deal with it then.
A/N: Did Kirstie do the right thing or should she have kept looking for him?
