Gumballs pov:

It took what felt like forever to get to the castle.

There was tension between me and Mathias. I knew he cared about me, he had been my butler and coachman since I was ten.

Mathias opened the door for me once we arrived.

I looked up at the tall man man of chocolate. He had wavy hair and bushy sideburns that were turning white from his ageing.

"Look...I'm sorry tha-" I began.

Mathias held up his hand. "Please Sir...I shouldn't have misspoke. It's not my place..."

I put my hand on his arm and smiled. "I'm sorry too.... It's just been so long since I've been with Marshall... like that I mean..."

He nodded. "I understand, Sir. Just don't get yourself hurt..." Mathias smiled and went to put the horses back in the stable.

I sighed, I really didn't want to upset him. He had always been so kind to me.

I went up the stairs and sat at my desk.

I continued with my work, though now it was hard to focus as my mind kept wondering to Marshall.

We were together again after all this time...I honestly couldn't believe it.

We were two different people, I'm Prince of the Candy Kingdom and he's a
demon/vampire hybrid King of the Nightosphere for Christ's sake....

I'll admit I was worried. We had our differences in the past.

We lead different lives, his was carefree and mine was full of stress and duties I hat to attend to everyday.

But... opposites attract...right?

Mathias knocked on my door. "Sir...I have your supper." He said, walking in with a tray of food.

"Thank you, Mathias..." I say as I clear my work space so he could put down my dinner.

He placed the tray in front of me. "I have been informed some friends of yours stopped by whilst you were out." He said, standing with his arms behind his back.

"Who was it?" I asked, putting my napkin across my lap.

"A Miss Fiona and a Miss Cake." He told me.

"Thank you...Send out and invite to have them over for lunch tomorrow." I said and began eating my dinner.

"Very good, Sir." Mathias bowed and left me to enjoy my dinner.

I ate in silence, thinking of how Fiona would react to this. She did have a crush on me... didn't she?

"God...I sound so stuck up..." I mumble getting up and heading to my bed.

I got dressed into my pajamas and got into bed.

'I'm sure she'd be fine with us.' Was my last thought before I drifted off sleep.
