chapter 15: Six Months to go

Asuna's POV:

Asuna hadn't believed her ears when Liz first revealed her reasoning as to Asuna's condition. However, between the cravings, upset stomach, and the small bump on her belly, there was really no other explanation. As such, Asuna and Kirito began preparing for the inevitable day ahead. Asuna did far less strenuous activity now, and except for going into town every so often to buy something, she really didn't leave the house. Kirito, on the other hand, went out to earn extra COL so that they could stock up on whatever things thy might need down the line.

A month later... (Five to go)

Among the supplies that they gathered were cloth diapers, bottles, a baby bed, and other such things they thought they would need to take care of their child to be.

"Honestly." Asuna thought. "It's like we're preparing for a war." She continued to think over all the preparations they had done. She felt exhausted just thinking about it.

"Asuna." Came Kirito's voice. "Time to go see the doctor."

"Coming." She said. Getting up from where she was sitting.

Asuna's belly had grown in the last month. A lot more than she thought it would. Liz and Silica teased her about her baby belly, much to her embarrassment and their enjoyment.

"Asuna?"

"Coming. I'm coming." Asuna locked the house behind her and started off down the road with Kirito.

Asuna sat down and waited for the doctor to begin the appointment. It had taken Kirito several days, but he had somehow found a player who was a doctor in real life, and had convinced him to see them for an appointment, though they hadn't said why.

"Ok." Came a female voice. A woman came into the room with a sigh and a bored expression on her face. "Now who is the patient?"

Asuna raised her hand hesitantly. "That would be me." She said.

The doctor did a double take. "Oh. Ok. So what seems to be the problem?"

Asuna smiled and gestured to her stomach. "I'm expecting, and am here for a wellness check."

The doctor's eyes grew wide. "R-really?" She stuttered out in surprise. "I didn't know that you could get pregnant in SAO."

"It's a recent change." Kirito said. "Long story. We believe she is about four months along, but thought having a professional look at it would help us get a more accurate estimate."

The doctor nodded. "Of course. I don't know how much I can tell you without equipment, but I might be able to give you some idea of when."

The doctor performed what tests she could, asking questions of both Asuna and Kirito. Finally, she was finished.

"Ok. You are indeed four months along. Roughly the middle of your second trimester. I expect the child to be born in about five months or so, give or take a few days."

Kirito nodded and Asuna got up so they could leave. "Thank you." She said.

"No problem. Make sure you come back in about two weeks time for another check up. Can't be too careful with something like this can we?"

"We will. Thank you again."

Four months later... (one to go)

Kirito's POV:

Kirito was going out for the evening. Asuna was having a baby shower with Liz, Silica, the doctor, and Sasha. (The child caretaker from the town of beginnings) As Kirito had been ceremoniously thrown out of the house, he decided to go and spend a night on the town with Klein and Agil. He made his way to Agil's shop, knocking lightly on the door.

"Hey Agil! You ready?"

"Just a second. Trying to make sure everything is locked up tight. Can't be too careful you know." Came Agil's reply. He soon emerged from his shop.

"Right. Now we just need..."

"Kirito, I'm here." Came Kleins voice.

"Never mind. Alright guys. Let's go and have us a jolly old time in town for the night."

Asuna's POV:

Asuna and the others had all had a great time. Granted, Asuna was a little worried about having Kirito gone for the evening, but her friends assured her that he needed it as much as she did. Now it was getting close to eleven at night, and everyone was winding down and getting ready to leave, when Asuna felt something give way. Next thing she knew, she was lying on her bed doubled over in pain as the others rushed around her.

"It's time girls." The doctor said. "It's time. The baby is coming."

Ok, this chapter was one of my shortest yet, but to be honest it is just filler. Next chapter should be a little more exciting. Until next time... BYE!!!
