Chapter 13

Alexia

I almost skipped through the front door and outside into my perfect chair. I sprawled out and texted Charlotte.

A: Char you there?

C: Yeah what's up?

A: Can I drive over? I need to talk to you

C: Yeah sure I guess. Why exactly?

A: Long story

C: I've got time

A: I'll tell you when I'm there okay?

C: Okay I'll see you soon

I high-tailed it to Charlotte's place in less than 10 minutes, 8 to be exact.

A: I'm here

C: Just come on up. I'm in my room

A: Kay

I opened the door and quickly said hi to Drew who was watching something on tv in the living room before bursting into Charlotte's room.

She jumped about a foot of the bed with a shriek. "Oh my god Alexia was that entrance needed?" She gasped.

"Sorry." I winced. "We're even now because I'm pretty sure you damaged my ears."

"We are so not even Lexie." She threatened.

"I'm terrified." I retorted.

"You better be." She grumbled. "Anyways, what's this long story that had to be told in person?" She asked with a much perkier tone.

"Okay," I took in a deep breath. "So you remember Jasper right?"

"Yeah how could I forget his hotness?"

"Oh shut up Char. So we've been texting a lot more, yeah?" She nodded. "So I think I told you about going for lunch with him too?" Again she nodded and propped up her face in her hand. "Okay so after that I texted you that he showed up at my house and he took me to a party that was amazing. We were really close, like, he put his arm around me when he showed me inside and held my hand when he introduced me to his friends. After he took me home we were just standing outside my door and I tell you Char, it was the perfect moment for him to kiss me."

"And?" She demanded. "Did he kiss you? He totally kissed you."

"Nope. He kissed me on the cheek while he was hugging me." I replied.

"Well that was anti-climactic."

"Yeah I know right? After that moment he said goodnight and I ran inside."

"You what! You ran out on him? Tell me that's a lie. Please tell me you did not do that."

"I definitely did that." I said sheepishly.

"He could have kissed you after that!" She exclaimed as she slapped me lightly on the arm.

"Yeah I know okay? Jesus that's all I thought about for almost 2 hours."

"So is that the whole long story? It wasn't very long."

"That's not all Char."

"What else is there?"

"Trust me there's more." I answered darkly.

"Lets hear it."

"So I was trying to fall asleep and I almost succeeded when my phone rang. It was Jasper's phone but it was his aunt who had called. She told me I needed to go to the hospital because Jasper was in there."

"Oh my god Alexia. What happened?"

"I drove there ASAP and found his aunt in the lobby of emergency. She told me that pretty much some drunk guy had driven into him."

"Oh my god Lexie, is he okay?" She asked.

"Barely." I smiled weakly. "He has a broken leg and he'll be really sore but he's super lucky that he didn't get a concussion. I was waiting in emergency all night and I didn't get to see him once. The first time I saw him was today and no he didn't kiss me."

"Okay first, he is so lucky. Second, why did he not kiss you! He must kiss you." She said with a fangirl-worthy ferocity.

"I was just happy he's alive Char."

"I know. But seriously I'm glad he's okay."

"Thanks. I'll let him know."

"So, now what?" She asked me as she turned to stare out the window.

"I don't know. What do you feel like doing?"

"Pizza and a movie? I'm definitely feeling the pizza but we could do a girls night." She suggested.

"Okay, that sounds good. I'll order the pizza." I grabbed my phone. "What do you want?"

"Ham and pineapple please!" She sang from inside her closet. She returned holding a massive tray of makeup and nail polish. "Lets get started!"

I laughed at her childish behaviour. "Okay." I said quietly.

5 hours later we were lying on her couch painting our nails for probably the 10th time. "So," She began. "How's everything else with Jasper? Tell me all the cute stuff."

I laughed. "Just little stuff like holding my hand and putting his arm around my waist. He's kissed my cheek twice and hugged me once although he probably would have today if it weren't for his crutches."

"Aww you guys are going to be the cutest couple ever."

"This is different from 'It's never going to work Alexandria.' or 'Not going to happen.'." I replied nonchalantly.

"Okay look Lexie," She said in a tone that was definitely not friendly. "I was jealous okay? I'm trying to make it better and I apologized. Why do you keep bringing it up?"

"Char calm down. I was only saying that it was a change of view."

"Sure you were."

"Look Char I was having a good time. Can we not ruin it? I don't want to add another thing to my 'Bad Moments in Life' list."

"You have a list like that?" She asked through her laughter.

"Sort of." I laughed with her, it was pretty stupid.

"Oh my god Lexie." She laughed.

The rest of the evening I'm pleased to say, turned out fine and with a lot more laughter. There's one for the 'Good Moments in Life' list.
