By 4 it was time to get ready I was refreshed and completely awake. I showered quickly and opened my closet. I stared for a minute while I thought, I wore my blue floral sundress on our first meeting so I couldn't wear that again. I wasn't sure if this was considered a date or not so I had to go in a way that was okay for both. I knew I was over thinking the whole thing but hey, I wanted to look good. Eventually I decided on a pale pink sundress that was slightly fitted down to the waist then flowed just above the knee. I paired it with a pair of cute sandals with little flowers on the main straps. After that I applied some mascara and a shimmery pink lip gloss before leaving. I hadn't done anything except brush my long brown hair so it hang straight down my back.
I arrived a couple minutes as I planned and just as I was getting out of my car someone started opening the car door for me. "Hey Princess."
I smiled up into his golden eyes. "Hey Mario."
"You look amazing." He complemented me as he helped me out.
"Thanks. You do too." I blushed. He was wearing a light blue t-shirt, casual jeans and his typical sneakers with only a leather jacket over top. "I didn't really dress up or anything. I hope that's okay."
"You look great no matter what." He assured me.
"I do not."
"Yes you do.
"No I don't."
"Say what you want but take it from me, you look stunning."
I rolled my eyes. "Where is this surprise?" I asked as I scanned the parking lot.
"If I told you it wouldn't be a surprise now would it?"
"Oh come on Jasper." I begged.
"Here." He tied a bandana around my eyes. "How many fingers am I holding up?" He asked.
"Four?" I guessed randomly.
"Nope. Okay your good lets go."
"Uh Jasper? I can't exactly see where I'm going."
"Oh yeah, Sorry Lex." He took my hand and gently pulled me forward. It took him a good 10 minutes to get me there safely and by the time we got there I had hit at least 4 trees. I still couldn't see but I could hear the soft sound of water and some trees waving in the wind. "You okay?" He laughed as he pulled me up for the third time.
"I'm as good as I can be after being led into trees for 10 minutes!" I exclaimed.
"Great! So do you want to, uh, take off the blindfold?" He asked nervously.
"I can't see, remember?"
"Oh yeah I keep forgetting." He fumbled around with the knot for awhile in silence. When he finally did untie it he held it there for one more minute. "Ready?"
"Are you going to push me off a cliff or-" I stopped abruptly as I took in the scene in front of me. There was a small creek that was bubbling peacefully through the trees and in front of that there was a classic red and white checkered picnic blanket, complete with a basket. "Oh my god Jasper."
"What? Is it too much? Do you like it?" He asked nervously.
"Jasper I love it!"
"Do you actually?"
"I do! It's so beautiful."
"You want some food?" He asked as he opened up the picnic basket.
"Sure, what's for dinner?"
"Fish and chips, do you like them?"
"It's my favourite way to eat fish and fries are just amazing."
"Same here and after dinner I thought we could walk down the creek to this little pond that it flows into."
"That sounds amazing." I smiled at him reassuringly.
After we had eaten our awesome dinner he helped me up and kept my hand in his. I reached for my plate but he stopped me. "I'll clean up later." He assured me.
"Let me help." I protested.
"Not a chance Princess." He smiled teasingly.
I rolled my eyes and allowed myself to be walked down the creek. "It's so pretty sounding." I murmured softly.
"It is isn't it?" He squeezed my hand gently and I could feel his hesitation.
I smiled at him and squeezed back. "I love it." I assured him.
"I didn't ask-"
"But you were thinking it."
He rolled his eyes and pointed in front of us. "Look."
"I found the pond." I laughed.
"Whatever you say Lex." He sat down on the edge of the water and patted the ground next to him. "Come on, sit."
I sat where he wanted me and shivered as I touched the cold ground. "It's colder over here."
"Here." He took off his jacket and put it around me gently.
"Thanks." I leaned back and stared up at the sky.
He followed my lead and gazed upwards. "Look, over there." He pointed at the sky and after a minute of searching I found that he was pointing at the first star in the sky.
"My dad used to take me star gazing." I whispered. "He never actually had a telescope but when we went camping he would drag me out of bed in the middle of the night and point out his favourite constellations."
"He sounds like he was pretty cool."
"He was." I stared out over the water. "Jasper! What's that!" I gasped. The water glowed green and blue as a single leaf fell on its clear surface.
"Oh that?" He laughed. "It's always done that. There's some scientific name but I can never remember it."
"It's beautiful." I murmered.
"Yeah." He sighed and I felt his hand rest on top of mine. I looked over at him suddenly but relaxed when I saw his face lit up by the magical lights. It was a perfect picture right here in front of me and I had never known it exsisted until tonight.
"Thanks for bringing me here. I'm glad I came."
"I'm glad I decided to show you. But," He trailed off quietly.
"What is it?"
"I was wondering if you maybe wanted to do something later this week." He mumbled.
"Yeah sure, but why are you so nervous? We've done this before."
"I know but I was wondering if, umm, we could go together but not just as friends."
I stared at him in shock for a moment and was about to say something before he continued.
"So Alexia, do you want to be my girlfriend?"
I stared at him for a moment longer before replying. "Yes."
