Etihad Stadium

Manchester, England

So, I've decided to try and write after the show from now on, because not much happens in the long hours of the morning, before the show. A lot happens during and after it, so I shall write afterwards. Of course, that means I have to work really hard to retain everything that's happened.

But I'm really excited to be here, in Manchester. I mean, it's in England. Of course I'm excited. It's really nice here (even if it is a little colder than I'm used to) and I've seen at least three castles while flying overhead. I got some really amazing pictures.

It's not all that great, though. We're stuck here in the stadium. Can't even walk around outside of it. That would be a little suspicious, though: three teenagers stalking the outside of a stadium that contains a world-famous band. American teenagers, at that.

I still like it here, though. I still can't wait for Glasgow, however. But the guys have another show tomorrow night here, in the Etihad Stadium (thanks for telling me how to spell that, Will) to do before we jet off to Hampden Park.

Tonight, I decided to stand what can be considered front row to the C-stage. I like getting pictures from there because you're as close as you can possibly be to the band while they're on stage, and the closer I am to my subject, the better the picture turns out because then I can put my background control skills to use.

I got a picture of Jonny standing opposite of me, but only his head (and part of his guitar, which adds a nice touch). In the background, all you can see is blurred, multicolored lights, which would be the Xylobands. It's probably the greatest picture I've gotten so far. I also got a good picture of Will on piano and Chris on his acoustic guitar. They're both smiling because I suspect Chris said something to the drummer about his piano-playing skills. But their warm smiles bring a sort of warm happiness to that picture. I think I'll upload it onto my laptop and use it as my desktop background.

Right now, I'm backstage again. I left front row C-stage just a few minutes ago, to come and write before I get kicked from my spot. Show's almost over. Chris is shouting, "Let's be one big band!" right now, and it's so loud it's rattling my brain. So yeah, when Chris starts shouting that, you know they're gonna take their bow in about two minutes.

This morning, during a very short soundcheck about three or four hours after landing, I stood at the end of the stage with my camera and took pictures (I was almost knocked off by Chris twice) while the band were setting up. And then after that I shouted to Will because he'd messed up.

"Yeah, I know!" he shouted back. "Won't happen again, boss."

I had to smile.

Of course, he didn't screw up again. I tried really hard to get him to, but he didn't. And then Rylan was stupid enough to walk past the amps. She hit a cord and unplugged it, and therefore screwed everybody up because it had the bass and the acoustic hooked up to it.

Speaking of death-by-amplifiers, Guy backed up too far and crashed into the two amps behind him. Oh, I wish everybody back home could've seen his face. He's lucky he didn't knock them over. That'd be one expensive medical bill. And then one of the amps failed (blew out or whatever) and it screwed up the whole soundcheck. Fortunately, there were plenty of others to use.

In all, we've had lots of issues with the amps today. They're out to get us.

All I've been doing today is sitting around, trying to get out of the way. There wasn't much for us to do this morning, anyway. I tried drawing a quick sketch outline of the stage and the band during soundcheck, but they wouldn't hold still long enough to have a good reference, and they kept stopping to make corrections. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow with a picture I've taken. At least the pictures don't move. We don't live in Hogwarts.

Speaking of Harry Potter, I really miss watching it. I lost my Netflix password awhile ago and both Rylan and Quince refuse to let me use theirs, and I can't find any of the movies on YouTube for free. So I'm pretty sad about that. I do have a couple of the books with me, though. I've a lot of books with me, actually. That's how my book-talk started with Jonny on the plane last... week, was it?

I have no sense of time anymore. I only remember the date and time for this. After that, I forget and don't care. The only thing I remember is where we are in the world currently so I can inform my parents. I'm more worried about the location right now than the date and time, really. I never knew what day it was before this tour, anyway.

So maybe I should talk about the band. I realize I haven't done that much yet, and they deserve to be thought of. I asked Rylan to give me a description of them and here's what she's saying--Will: The father with lots of advice. Jonny: My brother(I can see that). Guy: My best friend(that too). Chris?

She seriously said two words and told me how to write it down.

A H O L E.

Maybe it's a little true. He is one of those people who's a jerk but he's hilarious about it.

But I love them all to death and disagree with Rylan (somewhat). I mean, we'll be around them for two years. You gotta be nice. Especially you, Rylan.
