Wembley Stadium

London, England

Wembley is fun. We played soccer again today, and it wasn't cold and wet like it was yesterday (though that cleared up later in the day). Nobody really trusted the weather for awhile, but it's still sunny and warm. There wasn't much of a soundcheck today. Which meant sitting around and talking for a long time, before Phil demanded that the band determine tonight's setlist.

We got to be a part of that today. We actually just finished it, minus a few blank spots that are "to be determined".

The first song was of course A Head Full Of Dreams. After Paradise was a new version of the Remix Section, and then Yellow. The Scientist, Clocks, and Charlie Brown came after, and then they went to the C-stage to do a rare appearance of Magic, the requested song (Don't Panic again), and a few more. Back to the A-stage. A Sky Full of Stars, Viva La Vida, Adventure of a Lifetime, Fix You, and some debated songs. These songs are supposed to be a really stripped back acoustic version of their former selves, since the guys can't remember how to play them (I told them that's what soundcheck was for). After a song or two of those, Everglow comes next and then a bunch more I can't remember, and then Up & Up closes off the show with a huge singalong and fireworks and bright lights and flashing Xylobands.

Speaking of the Xylobands, there's supposed to be a new part in the show in which the stands read "A Sky Full of Stars" using the Xylobands. I'm not sure it's going to work. There's not much of a way to test it because there isn't enough people. I said just put a bunch of the bands on the seats in the designated areas and see if it roughly works that way. They can't test it during the show, in case it's an absolute disaster.

Chris really hopes it works. He said it'd go well with the sparkling and lighters (and phone flashlights) and it'd make for a great experience in the show.

I still don't think it'll work. That's a lot of coding and programming to do to get the right bands to light up at the right (and same) time, and there's already some issues with them that aren't really noticeable unless you know the sequencing--which we do. So while I'm out in the crowd I'll hunt for issues and notify the guy working the Xylobands so he can fix it.

I know his name, yes, I just have terrible memory and I've forgotten. I'll remember it after I finish writing this...

Dinner

It is sort of like a dinner-time right now--everybody's going through the line to get food and then sitting around to eat it. I ate about ten minutes ago, with Quince and Rylan and the band. And Roadie. It wouldn't be the first time we've eaten with them, but I think tonight was probably the funniest, because me and Roadie showcased our pictures we'd taken in the morning, and the band got to see all the hilarious pictures we'd taken of them.

I'm the best at getting pictures of people with priceless expressions without realizing it. I'd gotten a picture of Chris with a wide-eyed stare at Jonny during the short soundcheck, because he'd messed up. I hadn't caught the mistake, but it must've been funny.

I also got pictures of some of the crew. They treat me as simply another photographer and will go about their business normally, but sometimes they'll look at me or my camera and give funny faces or looks. I like it when they do that; it makes me feel as though I make their day even better.
