Trace woke up to the sounds of bells ringing in the distance, the sound was sweet music to his ears as he slowly stood up to stretch and yawn. He jumped off the bed and immediately went to grooming himself as he prepared for the upcoming events of the day.
The sylveons were a very neat and clean civilization and if you didn't look your best, you would be the certain of unwanted negative attention.
Trace didn't like this idea of being clean and neat all the time, but he respected other people and didn't want to look like a fool while his parents were here to stop any possible war from breaking out and gain new allies.
As he left his room he went straight to the dining hall and sat down at the table where the king, queen, the other royal family members, Jayce, Coral, Hans, and Jayce Jr. were already seated and had been discussing business as far as Trace knew that they were doing. In front of him was many assortments of fruits in a bowl and a stacks of beautiful decorated pancakes already covered in what looked like strawberry syrup.
"Mmmm." He licked his lips with anticipation of what these pancakes would taste like.
As the king stood up to make a toast Trace looked around the room for a moment before turning his attention to the king.
"Thank you friends for joining my family and I, in this glorious morning to have a wonderfully prepared breakfast. I hope you all enjoy the many foods that have been prepared. Now let us eat and have a fantastic time!" Said the king.
The crowd all raised their glasses (use your imagination) to him with a "cheers" from everyone at the table and everyone started to dig in.
When Trace finished his meal he excused himself from the table to go outside and walk around. He was joined by his sister, Tara who seemed to be troubled with something.
"Hey sis, what is wrong? You've been looking gloomy today." He asked.
Tara looked up at Trace with a bit of a surprise on her face as if she just now realized her face could also show emotions.
"Oh it's nothing Trace. Don't worry." She said quickly and started to walk away from her brother, slowly leaving the party.
Trace not wanting one of his family to be alone especially Tara, decided to walk after her but kept his distance in case she ran off.
When he started to catch up, she turned around and confronted him.
"Trace stop following me! I know you feel like you are the one to solve everyone's problems, but you can't solve this one. It's my own issue!" She yelled at him causing Trace to take several steps back.
"Okay okay, jeeze I just wanted to show I am here for you." He said.
Tara sighed and looked down, her ears and tails went the lowest Trace has ever seen before with her. He put his paw on her shoulder and rubbed it.
"Tara let's go get some fresh air and some chocolate." He said.
She looked up and gave a small sad smile.
"That would be nice." She said and started walking out to the city. Once outside they looked around for anything they could do and decided to go to the mall.
As they got to the mall, they started heading for what looked like a chocolate store, which were quite popular in the sylveon kingdom.
When they entered the store, a shiny sylveon which had blue in her fur than the pink, walked up to them and bowed.
"Good morning to you both. My name is Rebecca, and I am the store owner of the Sylveon's Chocolate. We have a special on our chocolate covered cherries, if you are interested. We also have different selections with vanilla and other flavors, so please do look around and see what catches your eye sugar." Said the shiny slyveon named Rebecca.
Trace and Tara bowed and smiled as they looked at the large store that was two stories and in the middle of the store was a large chocolate fountain. As they walked around with Rebecca who was showing them the different types of chocolate and allowing them free samples almost every time they stopped.
Trace had never been inside such a large chocolate store and one so decorative with many colorful lamps and lively music which some slyveons enjoyed dancing to on a dance floor that seemed odd to have in a chocolate store.
There was also a bar which seemed to serve ice cream, milkshakes and different assortments of sugary delights!
Though with all this excitement, Tara still seemed bothered by something. When they were finally alone and sitting at a table, he decided to ask his sister what was bothering her.
Tara sighed, "I just don't feel at home here. Yeah it's great, but to be honest, the slyveons are a bit too flashy with their things. Not even the jolteons are this proud to show off what they have."
"I have to agree there. This kingdom does feel a bit odd. It's a totally different culture than what we are used to." Trace said looking at the happy smiling faces of the sylveons who all seemed to enjoy to enjoy themselves.
Tara was also looking around before saying, "I want to go to the glaceon territory and hear their side of the story."
Trace started coughing some after he heard this from accidentally inhaling some of his chocolate he was eating. Luckily it wasn't a big piece and when the slyveons all went back to doing f their own things, he turned to his sister with a look of pure shock.
"Why the glaceon territory?" He asked.
"Because I don't feel right with one side of the story, as I said I want to hear the glaceons side." She said a bit frustrated.
Trace tilted his head and thought for a moment.
"Yeah it would be good to hear the other sides part. I just have a feeling that you want to do more than just hear their side." Trace said.
Tara shook her head and looked at him with a scowl on her face.
"Whatever do you mean Trace?" She asked.
He smirked at her for a moment before leaning in close to whisper, "You just want to see if you can be a glaceon."
Tara leaned back, glaring at Trace.
"I-I do not!" She said a bit excitedly gaining the attention of several slyveons and eevees.
Trace held up his paw with chocolate in it, "Just a discussion over which chocolate is better! Move along."
Everyone who stopped to see what was happening started back to their own business. Trace and Tara went back to their conversation.
"Trace, please don't say stuff like that. I don't know what I want to evolve into yet." Tara said a bit flustered while pawing the table.
Trace watched his sister carefully. He knew she was always happy during the winter, where as most of the household prefer spring or summer time. As for himself, he liked all the different times of the year and wasn't picky if it was hot or cold. To him all the different seasons were perfect together.
Tara though was miserable during the summer, spring was okay, but when it was fall and winter that was when she was the happiest. So it shouldn't have been a surprise when she said she wanted to go see the glaceons.
Only problem is, the glaceons were not on talking terms with the alliance and like the espeons, decided to close their borders to any visitors who weren't glaceon.
"Sis, you know we may never get inside the glaceon territory right?" Trace said.
Tara only nodded and slowly put a chocolate in her mouth. She looked sad as if hearing the one she truly trusted in the family say that was true. Trace sighed and began to think for a moment. He knew the glaceons were not going to be a easy task, in fact glaceons were as rough and tough as the strongest winter storms.
Maybe just maybe though, there was a way to convince the glaceons that some of the family could be admitted into their territory. Trace picked up his chocolates and put them in his bag before jumping down from the table.
"Come on Tara, I'm forming a plan." He said.
Tara jumped down after picking up her chocolates and caught up to him.
"What are you planning for?" She asked curiousity in her eyes this time.
"We are going to figure out how to get into the glaceon territory." He said with determination in his eyes.
