King Zerro sat in his bed looking at the piece of paper he had received from a messenger several years ago. It had written on it when and how his brother had died in battle. He continued to read the over and over again, allowing his hate to come over him as it had been the past several months. The war between the glaceons and slyveons was taking it's toll on the old king.
He put the paper down and laid in his bed with Queen Tohka beside him. She used to be full of life, since she became queen she slowly slipped into the role of what she was supposed to be seen as.
Same with Prince Hailstorm and Princess Noel. What ever happened to his beloved family?
He heard a knock on the door and stood up on the bed before making his way to the door.
"Who is it?" He said in a commanding voice.
"It is I, your majesty, Commander Seras and Commander Gulch." Said a female voice on the other side.
"You may enter." Said the king.
The door slowly opened and made room for two glaceons both with battle scars on their bodies. They were two of the most loyal troops the king had.
"You summoned us sir?" Asked Seras after saluting along with Gulch.
"Yes, I was wanting to see if you two had any idea on when the next attack should be? I am eager to end this war as soon as possible." Said the king.
Seras and Gulch looked at each other before turning back to the king.
"Your majesty, forgive us, for we have found no such weakness in the territory the slyveon control. They have great numbers and..." Seras trailed off.
"And what Commander?" Asked the king impatiently.
"And they have brought flareons and jolteons to their aid your majesty." Said Gulch.
The king trembled in fear. The alliance is helping the slyveons? This angered the king who walked over to the table and began to take a few sips from his wine he had. If the alliance joins the fighting, the glaceons would be doomed.
"Go, find a way to penetrate their defenses. We have to strike as soon as we can. Do not fail me again!" Said the king.
The two glaceons bowed and left the room closing the door behind them.
"This is not good." The king said before turning to the wall, listening to any whispers he might hear.
"At least I have a way to keep the alliance at bay." Said the king.

Trace was awaken by his sister who kept nudging him with her nose.
"Wake up Trace, I need to talk to you. Oh please wake up." She pleaded.
Trace stretched out and yawned some before sitting up to face his sister. She looked at him for a moment to make sure he was fully awake before talking.
"Yeah, what's up?" He asked stretching again.
"I just need to talk and also confess something to you in the open. I'm sure you figured it out, but I'd rather just tell you how I feel." She said pawing the mattress.
"Okay, how are you feeling right now? I am cold in case you were wondering." He said trying to lighten the mood that had been going on since they were forced into the Cold Room.
Tara gently batted Trace on the shoulder for trying to joke in what she felt was a serious situation.
"Trace, I need us to be serious. I know you dislike that but I need this." She said.
"Okay, okay." He said. "So how do you feel right now?"
"I feel hurt Trace. I have been away from Hailstorm for almost two days and it hurts. It hurts like someone stabbed a knife into my chest and keeps twisting it, never stopping to let me catch my breath. I have to see Hailstorm and soon or else this pain may never go away." She said.
Trace watched his sister as she spoke, every word that came from her was full of pain and sadness. If only he knew a way to get Tara to see Prince Hailstorm, but the king wouldn't allow it.
He went over and hugged his sister who immediately hugged him back, burying her face into his neck. She inhaled and exhaled several times, using some breathing treatments that mother had taught them whenever they were stressed out.
"I'm sure Prince Hailstorm will win his battle and become king of the glaceons. Than I believe he will come set everything right. I also believe he misses you dearly as well sister." Trace said as reassuringly as he could.
Tara nodded against his neck but didn't look up. She felt a bit of comfort but still desired to see Hailstorm.
After a few moments of sitting there, the door slammed open and in walked the king himself again. He held his head high as he could to show his superiority over them.
"Well good morning my two favorite hostages. How are you this morning?" asked the king.
Trace was the only one who looked at the king, wishing it was Hailstorm already holding that title. Alas, King Zerro still held the title.
"We are just fine your majesty. And how are you doing with your training?" Trace asked curiously.
"Oh I don't need training to defeat my weakling of a son. His not ready yet, physically of mentally for the title of king of the glaceons. He may be popular among the people, but he has nothing compared to me." Said King Zerro.
"I see. Well in that case, I hope the turn out is what destiny wishes it to be. May I ask why we have the pleasure of your company today?" Asked Trace.
"To see you two and make sure you both are behaving yourselves. Not like you can get away from here anytime soon. I just want you to know that after the battle I'll be taking you to the lost territory and reveal to the slyveons I have you two as my prisoners. I'm sure after that the alliance won't allow any attacks on my kingdom. " Said King Zerro confidence oozing from his very presence as he spoke.
"Your majesty, I thought we were to be..." Trace said but was cut off.
"My ambassadors? You were supposed to be. But plans changed due to some misfortunes and bad decisions." He said looking at Tara who hadn't looked up once. "It's impolite to not pay attention to a king."
"Forgive her your majesty, she isn't feeling well. She just needs some rest and we haven't been sleeping well. She might be getting sick. Perhaps it be best if you stay away until after your match." Said Trace.
The king smiled and shook his head.
"I know she isn't sick boy stop lying. She misses someone she isn't worthy of having. No matter what happens, Hailstorm will not marry her. He is only tempted by the idea of having a mate that isn't in his kingdom. Glaceons shouldn't mix with other eeveelutions from the outside, we are so few already in the royal family, mixing in new blood would just cause it to grow weaker." said King Zerro.
Trace knew most eeveelution royal families preferred to keep their bloodlines pure and with only royal family members or high ranking elites who have been granted special permission to hold a royal title. But if the glaceons were few in the royal family already, what was happening to them besides this war? Trace did notice the small amount of elites and maidens of ice. Trace had learned what the female warriors here were called, and the female glaceons looked fierce as a snow covered mountain in a blizzard.
Trace wouldn't want to be caught in a room with them during a battle. They were warriors to the Bone and even though he hasn't seen any of them fight, he could tell with how graceful they moved that fighting one would be like trying to hit a single snow flake in the wind.
"Your majesty I apologize if this sound rude, but how much of your royal family do you even have left?" Trace asked.
"That is none of your business. As far as you are concerned you are a hostage of war now. Needed when I say you are needed. Now I must go see that my troops are prepared. I should be hearing good news as well." Said the king finally getting up and leaving. "And next time I arrive I expect both of you to greet me as King Zerro ruler of the north."
The door slammed and was locked when they left. Trace looked at the door for a moment until Tara finally moved to sit up on her own. She still held that sad expression that Trace wished he could lift from her face. But only one could do that now and he was...
Trace saw movement out of the corner of his eye. He looked over and saw a glaceon in the ice. They walked a few feet before stopping and started to push against the ice. The ice moved and slowly opened allowing the glaceon to step into the room and lock eyes with Trace. It was Prince Hailstorm!
The prince covered his mouth to show Trace they shouldn't talk before motioning him over. Trace got up and tapped Tara's shoulder.
"Whatever you do, don't speak, don't make any noises." Trace said looking over her shoulder. Prince Hailstorm had gone back into the ice behind the door waiting. "Remember no noises."
"What are you..." Tara was about to say but Trace covered her mouth.
"Shh." Trace said and started walking to the exit.
Tara followed keeping as quiet as she could. She trusted her younger brother and when they reached the door she almost burst into happy tears when she saw Prince Hailstorm. She ran to him and hugged him close as he held her close to him. Trace saw the door could be shut and shut it behind him.
"I am glad you two know how to handle being quiet for a moment." Said Hailstorm still holding Tara who again started crying. "It's okay Tara, I'm sorry I took so long. I was constantly being watched."
"I'm just happy to see you. I know we haven't known each other long, but seriously Hailstorm, don't leave me again." Said Tara keeping her tight grip on the prince.
Trace sat there in the cold, closet like area. He checked the room out and noticed a crack in the wall. Another door perhaps?
Hailstorm noticed Trace's wondering gaze and smiled.
"Yes Trace that's the door to the other side of here. I found it back when I was a Eevee." He said.
Trace looked up at Hailstorm and nodded.
"Wait as a eevee?" He asked unsure of why Hailstorm would even try to find a door into here.
"It's a old secret most glaceons don't know about. This room wasn't meant for prisoners but it was meant for misbehaving eevee princes and princesses." Hailstorm said still smiling.
"Misbehaving? You were sent here because you misbehaved?" Asked Trace.
"Well, yes I was a very defiant child growing up Trace. Several times I got put in here because this room is meant to keep misbehaving children away. The room causes any noise to be heard even a faint whisper. It can also be heard in the room my mother and father currently occupy. So they could hear anything I said." Said Hailstorm.
"Or us prisoners of war." Said Trace.
"I am sorry father is doing this to you. I wish I could do something but until I become king I can't." Said Hailstorm
"The match starts tomorrow right? Do you think you are truly ready to battle you'd father? He seems really confident in his own abilities, or is that all just a cunning trick?" Ask Trace.
"To answer your questions, yes it is tomorrow, yes I believe I have a chance at beating father, and yes he is confident in his own abilities because he is very strong. I have yet to defeat him in combat." Said Hailstorm.
Trace sighed and looked down at the floor. Tara looked up at her beloved and gently kissed his cheek.
"I believe in you Hailstorm. You will win I just know it. I just wish I could see you when you win." Said Tara.
"Thank you Tara, and I hope I can win." Said Hailstorm blushing some. " Perhaps there is a way you can watch without being in plain view. I'll send someone to come get you two after we leave for the match. She will take you to the place my father and I will be battling. Just wait patiently I promise she won't betray us."
"Who is she?" Asked Tara a hint of jealousy in her voice.
"Just a long time friend who has had my back in battle." Said Hailstorm smirking some before looking at the window. "I need to go you two. I'm sorry but I must be seen in public."
With that he opened the door quietly and ushered both eevees out the hidden door. Before she went out Tara gave another quick kiss to Hailstorms cheek, but to her and his surprise Hailstorm turned his head in time to receive the kiss directly on the lips. Both stared at each other for a moment blushing red before Tara scrambled out the door and onto the bed.
Hailstorm after a long moment slowly closed the door leaving the two eevees alone again. Trace walked over to Tara who was trembling and still blushing a deep red even through her brown fur.
"Sis, you going to be alright?" Ask Trace.
"Yeah.. I believe so Trace." Said Tara.

The slyveon king sat by a steel door. Behind it lay a secret that had been hidden for years before he was king. As he stared at the door he watched as a flash of light came from the small window and saw smoke rise from the small opening in the bottom. He could hear the shout of the now awakened prince who had been frozen solid in the territory the slyveons now reside in. He heard footsteps behind him and looked back to see one of the guards come up to him.
"My king, a letter from the glaceons has arrived." Said the guard.
"I see. I shall go and read it than." Said the king walking past the guard and leaving the dungeon area.
When he arrived to his study several moments later he read the piece of paper addressed to him and the alliance. It stated how the glaceon king had three prisoners of war if the alliance decided to attack, they would be executed.
This news disturbed the king some, wondering who else the mad glaceon king had for a prisoner. One being his son.
"This has to stop and soon. I shall put a end to this once and for all and invade that wretched land and burn it to the ground. I shall..." He was about to continue but heard the door open behind him seeing ambassadors Jayce and Coral.
"Ah Sir Jayce and Lady Coral so good to see you." Said the king.
"Any word on our children my king?" Ask Coral.
"Not as of yet. I am still making preparations to mount a rescue mission. I promise they shall be returned to you soon now that I have the help of the alliance, nothing will stop us from getting our loved ones back." Said the king.
Coral and Jayce both nodded and walked out of the room. They turned to each other and frowned.
"Should we really be doing this?" Ask Coral.
"How else are we going to get our children back?" Ask Jayce.
"I don't know. I just have a bad feeling about something." Said Coral worriedly.
"Me too my love." Said Jayce pulling Coral close to him.
In the king's study, two slyveons walked up to the king and bowed.
"Your majesty, are we really going to send in a rescue team?" Asked one of the soldiers.
"Yes, we need to get my son back after all. He is in trouble and our top priority." Said the king.
"And what of the ambassadors children your grace?" Asked the other soldier.
"They might be found and saved, they might be left behind to die for betraying our fabulous kingdom. Who knows what will happen. Just let me worry about everything for now." Said the king as he burned the paper he had received. "For now we stick with our plan to finally destroy our oldest enemy."
