Trace sat in the library of the slyveon castle, looking through books of recent history between the sylveons and the glaceons or anything about the glaceons. He studied as much as he could trying to see what knowledge he could gain, though most of the books in the library only had information about how the glaceons were, "just a bunch of frozen eevees, with hearts as cold as the temperature in their territory."
Trace was unsure if he would ever gain anything from the sylveons, and began to miss the library back in the Jolteon kingdom with their vast knowledge of different Eeveelutions that were on file.
The jolteons liked to learn about everything they could, and they had plenty of knowledge that was either passed down from older generations or were added the past 40 years since the jolteons began their allainces with other kingdoms. The sylveons it seemed cared very little for knowledge of other eeveelutions and more for their chocolates, foods and sports of any kind.
Trace began to lose his patience after several days of finding nothing on the glaceons in the books that were there. He than realized the only way he could learn about the glaceons was to wait and go home in a few more days since his family was having to remain here due to a special invite from the king. Of course there was another option, but that would require him to go to the glaceon territory and that was out of the question.
As he began to feel tired, he went straight back to his room and jumped on his bed laying there for awhile.
"I know I like things difficult, but really would it hurt to have things a bit easier?" He asked himself while laying on his back looking up at the ceiling of his room.
He found himself beginning to miss his older brother Gabriel. They would always have fun together no matter where they were especially when Tara was too busy with her own situations.
"I hope she won't dislike me for not finding anything here. It's almost as if, we will have to go see if the glaceons will allow two eevees to come in" he said looking out a window where the warm breeze flowed through making the room full of different smells from outside.
The slyveons were serious about their perfumes, foods, and even their furniture was made for the picky Pokemon.
Trace disliked how the sylveons didn't have any other culture in their kingdom besides their own. At least the jolteons, vaporeon, flareons, and eevees were always interested in bringing new items from different kingdoms to put in museums, add to their restaurants, hotels or even for housing purposes.
With his head feeling a bit dizzy, he got up and went to get something to snack on. The servants, who wore outfits that seemed odd, normally left treats on a table in his room and today's special was of course chocolate covered marshmallows and milk to drink.
As he sat there and ate his fill, he kept wondering if this was the most chocolate treats he ever had in his life without truly working for it. His mother would be a bit upset with how spoiled he was and would even say he would grow fat and lazy eating chocolate all the time.
As he played with his marshmallows he heard a knock on the door and when it opened two sylveons walked in.
"Master Trace, we have come to escort you to the great royal hall where the king has asked your family to join him in the festivities he has planned. Are you ready?" Asked one of them.
Trace shot up and went to the bathing area.
"I totally forgot! I've been so busy studying! One moment." He said and quickly got a shower and began to dry off before applying a cologne the sylveons gave as a gift.
When he walked back to the door feeling a bit better about his appearance, he and the slyveons walked to the great royal hall.
There he saw the rest of his family there waiting for him.
"Trace, what took you?" Asked his father.
"Sorry father, I was a bit distracted by my studies." He said and saw Tara give him a curious look.
"Let's not keep our gracious host waiting anymore." With that Jayce stood up and went to the door of the great royal hall.
Jayce Jr. glared at Trace as he walked by and went next to their father. Han came up to Trace and nudged him forward where he would be behind his mother and next to Tara.
Tara didn't seem to take notice as she sat still looking ahead past their mother. Trace started to worry if she was mad that he hadn't found anything the past few days.
The doors in front of the opened and an announcer was heard from in front of them.
"Presenting the ambassadors of the Jolteon and Vaporeon kingdoms, Lord Jayce and Lady Coral. Accompanied by their sons Lord Jayce Jr, Lord Han, Lord Jake and Lord Trace. Along with their daughters, Lady Rachel and Lady Tara." The announcer said loud and clear. All eyes went to Trace's family as they walked into the royal hall. Whispered could be heard as they passed by several slyveons who gazed upon the family with admiration at seeing the other eeveelutions. Some sylveons could be heard complimenting how they fancied each member of the family and guards.
Trace glanced around when he could, only to be met with stares of other sylveons who all wore very beautiful or handsome attire. Trace wondered if the sylveons were required to wear these things to get attention.
As they all approached the king and queen the family bowed to them, slowly standing back up.
"Thank you for inviting us your majesty." Said Jayce.
"Oh what kind of host would I be if I didn't show my honored guests the great ribbon banquet! All of you must relax and enjoy. In fact I command it to be done." He said before clapping his ribbons. "Attention everyone. These are my honored guests. Treat them with the highest respect as you would show a high ranking official"
Those gathered all bowed and smiled as if the king's words were pure gold and listening made you that much richer.
After the king was done talking everyone went about their business. Several high ranking sylveons came up to Jayce and Coral and began to discuss with them how wonderful that ribbon banquet was.
Trace realizing he can now go where ever he wanted, looked around for Tara who had gone off to the side and sat down alone. Her gaze seemed fixed on a window facing north.
He walked up to her after passing several slyveons and either bowing or pointing to anything he could to distract them as to avoid conversation with any of them.
When he made it to her, she barely acknowledged his presence. He sat there a moment looked out the window that she was looking out of, but he couldn't see anything.
"Tara, what's the matter? You seem like you are in a trance." He said.
Tara slowly turned to face him, and when she did the only thing he could make out in her eyes was a wanting to be anywhere but here.
"Tara, I'm sorry I couldn't..." He began but was cut off by Tara's tail.
"Shh. I have some information on how to get to the glaceon kingdom, but we must go after the banquet. If you are coming that is?" She said being serious as can be.
Trace felt his heart pounding in his chest, unsure if it was fear or excitement at the idea of going somewhere new.
He looked over at his family and knew that if he went through with this, he would be punished harshly. Unfortunately Trace wasn't one to not take risks.
"How did you get it?" He whispered.
"A sylveon, who told me he has a secret relationship said he would take me to see the glaceons." She said quickly while looking around.
"Wait, how can we trust him?" Trace asked also looking around.
"I just have a feeling I can. Please Trace, I would like it if you came with me." Said Tara who looked back at her younger brother with a pleading look, "you are the only one I can truly trust."
Trace though for a moment looking up at the ceiling, to his family, then out the window, than back at Tara.
"Okay I am in. Mom and dad are going to be so upset at us though." He said a bit shakily.
Tara smiled and turned back to the window.
"Tonight after the banquet meet me in the garden, be ready." With that she went to mingle among the other Pokemon. Trace did the same enjoying the food and listening in on conversations, all having to do with bragging about their fashions or how their basketball teams or soccer teams were looking good this year.
The night past by rather quickly and when the banquet was over everyone went to their rooms. All except Trace who went to the garden where he saw Tara under the tree with a male sylveon.
The sylveon looked familiar and as he went up to them he realized this was Prince Asta!
"My prince! It's..." He again was cut off this time by Tara covering his mouth.
"Shut up. We don't need the attention of the guards." She said before looking at Prince Asta. "I am sorry my prince. Trace tends to get excited."
Prince Asta gave a nervous smile.
"It is fine Tara. So are you both ready to travel to the glaceon territory? It will take a few hours to get there." Asked the prince.
Both eevees nodded their heads yes.
"Alright let's head out. I have some rations with me in case we get hungry or thirsty along the way there." Said the prince who started to head north for the long journey to the glaceon territory.
It took the small group of three, four hours of walking before reaching the edge of a mountain with pine trees all over it that were covered in snow.
"Here we are. The glaceon territory." Said Prince Asta who slowly stepped into the tree cover.
He moved so cautiously Trace wondered what would go wrong if he had done this several times.
Just as the prince took several steps into the trees, a blue figure stepped out of the shadows and towards the group.
Trace could tell that this glaceon moved with grace and when he got a good look, Prince Asta ran towards her.
"Princess Neol!" He said excitedly.
"Prince Asta!" Said the princess who sprinted towards him.
They embraced each other tightly and both started to cry some.
"I missed you my love." Said Princess Neol
"I missed you too my beloved." Said Princess Asta who looked over Prince Asta's shoulder seeing Trace and Tara. "Who are these two?"
As the two were starting to enjoy each other's company, Trace' ears perked up and he looked towards the sound of approaching foot steps.
"Are we really alone?" He asked.
As if on que, several glaceons jumped out of the shadows surrounding the group of four.
"Oh no. They must have followed me this time." Said Princess Neol.
The glaceons all surrounded the four as one stepped forward.
"Princess Neol, what are you doing? You know being with a sylveon is punishable by death." Said the glaceon in a gruff voice.
The princess only looked down, staying close to Prince Asta.
"Will you not answer me?! Guards take these..." The glaceon was about to say when he noticed the eevees. "Who are they?"
Everyone became silent for a few minutes waiting for the eevees to speak up. The glaceon guard grew impatient and went towards Trace and Tara.
"Well, who are you? You were asked a question and you better answer it before we tie you both to a tree and let you stay here." He said looking at the fiercely.
Trace stepped up and looked up at the guard.
"My name is Trace and this is my sister Tara. We are children of ambassadors Jayce and Coral." He said hoping what he was doing was right.
The guards all began to talk low to each other as if surprised these eevees weren't of the sylveon territory. The head guard's expression changed but only a little as he looked the two over.
"Jayce and Coral's children eh? Well you two will be coming with us." He said and turned to the guards behind him. "Get all four of them to the camp site. The prince and his elite guards will be here. We need to make sure our new guests are there to greet him."
"Hey you can't take us! We don't have anything to do with the glaceons!" Yelled Trace who was knocked over to his side and pinned by a guard.
"Oh you really think that? The moment you crossed into our lands was the moment you two got involved. Now everything changes with you three in custody." Said the head guard who watched as his soldiers chained the prince, princess and the two eevees.
Trace's heart sank as they were marched to the camp site. With every passing moment he realized what they had done. He and Tara may have just started a war with the alliance and the glaceons.
