Trace couldn't believe it. His sister had evolved into a glaceon! Why was all his siblings suddenly evolving into other evolved forms?! Did Tara know she would become a glaceon? What would mother and father say? Trace's head ran with so many questions that he himself was unsure of anything and felt dizzy because of it. Had it not been for the glaceons down below sending a few guards behind him and Rarity he might have fallen from the edge too.
"You two come with us! I think the king would like you both down with us." Said one of the guards.
Rarity seemed unphased by the command but did so anyway as she and Trace walked down the tunnels to the glaceons down below. When they got there, the other glaceons were around the new king and newly evolved Tara who both were standing up now beaming of pure happiness together while the glaceons around them seemed angry. The now dethroned Zerro was getting up but didnt seem to want to move as his wife sat nearby, she didn't provide any comfort to him as he looked to be too defeated to comfort.
As Trace reached Tara and Hailstorm he looked at his sister who turned to him and have him the happiest smile he had ever seen on her before.
"Well Trace, looks like I'll be staying here now." She said cheerily.
"Your majesty, she is not allowed here! Nor is her brother. That glaceon who brought them should be punished!" Said one of the glaceons who scowled at Tara.
"There will be no punishing. I invited them and told Rarity to bring them here." Said Hailstorm.
"But your majesty, this is a place that only glaceons can go to!" The same glaceon protested.
"I know, but I knew I would win this battle. And since I am king I say they are pardoned for what they did under my orders when I was prince. Do not make me upset or I will make you deal with the consequences of ruining such a victory." Said King Hailstorm as he stood up to the protesting glaceon. "Besides we now have more pressing issues at hand. Finally gaining peace with the sylveons."
King Hailstorm looked to Trace with a gleam of hope in his eyes.
"And you, my friend, will help me gain this peace. For I am putting all my faith and confidence in you to come up with a idea to bring the slyveons to a understanding with us glaceons, that we no longer want war." Said King Hailstorm.
"But your majesty, how am I supposed to do that? I am just a Eevee who is the son of two ambassadors of the alliance, and the alliance sides with the sylveons and not with the glaceons." Said Trace.
"I believe that you will find a way young Trace. I need you to find a way. The hope and the future of the glaceons rests in your ability to come up with a idea that will convince the alliance and the sylveons that all anyone wants now is peace. If you can't find a way, than the glaceons may never know what peace is for a long time, if we ever can." Said King Hailstorm as he began to walk towards the cave exit followed closely by Tara. "For now we just go back to the castle and rest. All of us including you father."
King Hailstorm looked back at Zerro who looked up and grunted before getting up and following the new king. The rest of the glaceons, along with Trace began to follow the new king outside of the cave and towards the castle.
The whole trip there Trace only could feel the cold wind and the fact that King Hailstorm was relying on him to come up with a plan to bring peace to two warring kingdoms. How was he supposed to justify being kidnapped by the glaceons and held hostage? How was he supposed to let the sylveons know the glaceons didn't want war? Would the sveons even listen to him? Would anyone even his own family?
He looked up to see if he could spot his sister who now seemed comfortable in her new position as potential queen to the glaceons. How could she feel so relaxed in a time like this?
As soon as they arrived back into the castle Trace was feeling cold to the bone and his very core seemed to be frozen.
King Hailstorm nodded at one of the servants nearby who held a basket of berries in his mouth. He sat them down before King Hailstorm, who looked at Trace motioning him over.
As he made it to the basket and the new king, Trace could smell the berries and the smell alone seemed to cause him to warm up.
"Go a head my friend and take some. I know you need them after a difficult walk like that and in that terrible weather." Said King Hailstorm, pushing the basket close to Trace.
Trace took a few berries and ate them. With each berry he felt the cold feeling melt away like ice under a hot sun. He gave a smile and bowed to Hailstorm, who seemed to have a serious expression on his face that made Trace feel a bit uneasy.
"Trace, I'm going to send you to your new room and I hope you find the covers and the variety of berry juice the servants will serve you from here on to your liking. I'm sure you will need all the comfort you can get for such a heavy burden I put on you. I apologize now for all of this, but do understand that without you I have no idea how I'm going to prevent all out war with the sylveons. I need you as my representative or I fear the sylveons and the alliance will attack any of my messengers I send." Said King Hailstorm.
Trace finally understood why he was going to be helpful. Even if he protested, he knew that glaceons would need the support of someone from the alliance. This was going to be hard, thought Trace as he suddenly felt the cold feeling return but in a different way.
This cold felt like the icy stares of his family who would more than likely hate that Trace was being forced to side with the glaceons and what was going to make things worse was Trace would choose the side of the glaceons anyway even if he had a choice. King Hailstorm seemed like he was ready to change everything and bring about peace to the warring kingdoms.
Trace looked up to meet the king's eyes and they were silent for a moment before he replied to the king.
"I guess I choose to help and attempt to prevent a war that could potentially destroy a whole kingdom." Said Trace nervously.
King Hailstorm nodded along with Trace's sister. Tara looked like she had a relieved yet pleased reaction on her face.
"Thank you Trace. I give you two days to prepare. Hopefully the sylveons won't be attacking anytime soon. I leave you to your preparations my friend." Hailstorm said before getting up and walking off with Tara and several guards and Noble glaceons.
Zerro also followed Hailstorm but gave Trace a look that sent chills down his spine.
Would Zerro try to take down his own son just to prevent the glaceons from obtaining peace?
Trace's thoughts were interupted by two servant glaceons who both bowed in unison.
"My lord, please come with us. We shall escort you to your room and make sure you are comfortable." Said one who was a female. "My name is Carta, and this is Howken."
Howken only bowed as his name was called. The two glaceons turned around and started walking off, Howken carrying the basket of berries with him.
Trace followed them close as he could curious as to what his new room looked like. When they arrived Carta opened the door and both servants moved to the side. Trace looked inside and smiled as he saw a warm bed and what was most interesting to him was there being a hot tub in his room that he couldn't stop staring at in amazement.
"I see you noticed the hot tub. My King Hailstorm decided it was a good idea to reopen this room since they haven't been used in ages." Said Carta.
"Wow. I didn't think there were any rooms in here with hot tubs like this." Trace said in amazement.
He quickly ran to the hot tub and jumped into, causing a small splash as he did.
The two glaceon servants only looked on as the little eevee laughed and played around in the hot water. Once he got out he shook himself a bit and grabbed what looked like a towel and started to dry off while rolling around in it.
Once he felt dry enough he stood up and turned to Carta and Howken feeling embarrassed about them watching his childish antics.
"Oh you two are still here. Umm, how long will you be in here for?" Trace asked.
"Until the little lord is happy and satisfied. If you want to join the king for lunch there will be freshly caught fish type Pokemon with toast and Oran berry juice for the little lord." Said Carta.
"Okay I'll make sure to be ready by than. And I'll make sure to start working on what I need to get done in two days. Thank you both and you are dismissed." Trace said.
The two servants bowed and started to walk out of the room leaving Trace alone for the first time in several days. It was creepy this time since he knew he was the only one who wasn't a glaceon or a eevee of a glaceon family.
It was weird now being completely alone, with Tara being with someone she only knew for a short time and than Gabriel suddenly becoming a leafeon and living with the leafeons now, it was all happening so fast and too much at the same time too.
He went over to his bed and laid down before he started thinking about what he would say to his family and the sylveons about a negotiations for peace.
All of this thinking and worrying was causing Trace to fell more exhausted than he felt from the long walks to the battle caves. He slowly drifted to sleep letting himself relax for just a few minutes. But the dreams wouldn't let him relax that night.
