A picture of Gabriel above
Next day
I get out of the car and slam shut the door. Shall I go back home? No can't do that. Mom clearly said that until and unless everything was good between me and Gabe, I shouldn't come back home.
The guard passes me a smile and opens the doors. He knows me well. I used to come here a lot when we were kids. I smile back at him and jog to Gabe's house's main door.
Even though my dad and Gabe's dad are equally rich, our houses are really different. My house is between a huge round plot and is only two story tall, surrounded with garden and is carved with stone work. Gabe's house is more like a building. Four story tall and full modern with glass walls, steel and all. The plot is big but there isn't any garden.
I ring the doorbell and wait. Their housemaid Lizzy opens the door. She is a stout, curly red haired, short woman in her mid fifties. Her actual name is Lizbeth but we call her Lizzy since it matches her personality.
"Evanna!" She exclaims and hugs me tightly. It took me a while to process that Evanna is also my name. It's really confusing having two names. God help me.
I come back to Earth when Lizzy smacks me on my head. "Ouch." I wince and rub the back of my head.
"That's what you get for not visiting me. It has been months since you last came here." She scolds.
I open my mouth to say something but am interrupted when a sophisticated, high pitched voice says, "Lizbeth who is on the door?" The clatter of high heels echo in the hall and then I spot Mrs Bennett coming towards us.
Like Gabriel, Mrs Bennett is also a tall heighted smart woman. She doesn't have nice features but the way she carries herself makes up for it. She is kind, sometimes stern and a really sophisticated woman.
"Evanna dear what a surprise." She smiles at me and pulls me in a hug. She has been like a mother to me since I used to spend most of my time here when I was a kid. "I am really upset with you. You don't visit often nowadays. You don't even come here to take Gabriel anymore. Is something wrong?" She asks.
"Nothing's wrong, so much has been going on lately in my family and I just don't get time." I tell her.
She places a hand on my cheek. Her hand is so soft and smells like lavender. "I heard about your father's fiancé and your half brother. Is she nice to you? You can always shift here if she is being a bitch." She offers.
I chuckle. "It's nothing like that Mrs Bennett. Mom is nice to me and Luke is the cutest child I've ever seen."
"Did you just call her mom?" She asks widening her eyes.
"Yes, she is soon going to be my mom so I thought I should start calling her that. Anyways where is Gabe?"
"Oh he is upstairs in his room. He has been behaving weird lately. Please find out what is wrong with him hon."
"I will Mrs Bennett." I assure. She nods at me and I start making my way upstairs to Gabriel's room. Why does this idiot has to have his room on the third floor?
Without knocking, I step inside. Gabriel is half lying on his bed, facing the backrest with his head phones on, watching something in his phone. His room, as always, is a mess. Clothes are lying here and there, books scattered on his study table, towel spread on his chair.
I jump on the bed beside him and snatch his headphones. Gabe's head snaps towards me and his eyes widen. "What are you listening?" I ask him as I put on his headphones. Meant to be by Bebe Rexha.
