Falling for Mr Innocent

Unexpected Shock

I wave Jason and Rachel a goodbye as they leave. Since there were two cars, I decided to join Rachel and Jason. Not that I like being the third wheel, I had to help them catch up with school. It was tiring watching the two lovebirds.

In a happy mood, I walk inside the door. My mood soon falters when I see an unknown woman, with a small child in her hand, in our hall. Dad is sitting on a couch, adjacent to the couch on which the woman is sitting, talking to someone on his phone.

"Dad?" I say when he puts down the phone.

Both dad's and the woman's eyes shift to me. The lady is actually pretty. She has aurburn streaks in her pitch black hairs and faint blue eyes, almost green. She almost reminds me of black widow. She smiles at me and in return, I pass her a confused smile. She seems pretty nice.

"Katherine." Dad says as he approaches me. I frown. Why the hell is he calling me that in front of a stranger? He comes in front of me and hugs me. I hug him back. "I thought you were about to arrive late."

"Change in plans." I shift my eyes back to the woman.

"Oh, pardon me. Aura, meet my daughter Evanna AKA Katherine. Katherine meet my fiancé, Aura." Dad explains and I freeze. I can hear my heart breaking into pieces second by second. "And this little one here is your brother... Luke." And my heart shatters. It really would have been better if he simply threw a dagger at my heart.

The lady, Aura, puts the sleeping baby on the couch and comes to me. She leans forward to hug me but I step back. Her eyes fill with hurt.

"Katherine... Behave." Dad scolds. I turn towards him, my eyes filled with hate, rage.

"No dad. I won't. Out of nowhere you suddenly appear and not only that you bring me a step mom and a step brother and expect me to accept all this. Just like this?" I shout at him. "Why dad? What did I ever do to you? I loved you with all I had, trusted you. Never questioned you. Always respected you and what do I get in return?" Tears roll down my cheeks.

"Katherine.." Dad says in a scolding tone but Aura stops him but putting her hand on his shoulder.

"Katherine dear.." she starts but I interrupt her.

"Don't call me that. I'm Evanna Winters for you." I scowl at her.

"Katherine apologize." Dad sternly says.

I glare at him. "No, I won't. I said nothing wrong."

"Kath.." he starts again but I interrupt.

"You know what, I'm outta here." I conclude and walk back out of the door. I expect dad to stop me or something but he doesn't. This angers me even more.

I go straight to the garage and take the keys of my Lamborghini from the key stand. Getting in the driver's seat, I start the car and drive out of the house. I don't know where I am going, or where I should go when a  name crosses my mind. Chris.

I take a U-turn and drive towards Chris's house.

Parking in front of Chris's house. I run to his door and ring the bell continuously. 'Coming', a female voice answers from inside. I guess it's his mom. I quickly wipe my tears.

The door opens and I see a woman in her early forties. She has the same eyes as Chris but a little worn out. Her shoulders length blonde hairs frame her face perfectly. I cannot say she is pretty but I have to say that she has a smart personality.

She looks at me with a questioning gaze. "Yes?" She asks.

"I'm here to meet Chris. Is he home?" I ask. It is getting really hard to hold my composure. I just want to cry in Chris's arms.
