It's time for the couple to leave. The single ladies all stand together, waiting for the bouquet to be thrown. I do not really believe in such thing so I was watching all this as a viewer. Rachel and Paige are also there.
Mom throws the bouquet and it lands in Rachel's hands. She squeals happily and hugs Jason. Gosh, this girl. She is really into wedding and stuff.
"Are you sure you are going to be okay tonight? Luke can be really hard to control at times." Mom asks when I was seeing her off.
"Yes mom, I've handled him a number of times. I can do this. You enjoy your night."
"Don't get too caught up here. Go home on time. This all can be handled tommorow too. I know you can be very stubborn about completion of work at times. Your ankles would already be hurting from wearing heels and running here and there.." She rants. I put a finger on her lips.
"Mom! Everything will be just fine." I kind of scold her.
"I've never left you alone with Luke till date so I'm just a bit nervous." She says. I give her an understanding look before helping her into the car.
Dad gives me a quick hug before getting into the driver's seat. He whispers a 'be safe' before driving off.
I go back inside the garden and attend to the guests who are now leaving. At last it's time for Brandon to leave. He hugs me tightly.
"Can't you stay just one more day. We could hang out tomorrow."
"I would really love to stay Kathy but this is the busiest season in my business. I had to make and cancel a lot of arrangements to be here today. But I'll come back, soon." He tells and I nod.
"Ok then. Have a safe flight and call when you land." I say. He smiles at me and ruffles my hair a bit.
"Sure kiddo." And with this, he leaves.
Only me, Austin, Rachel, Paige, Uncle John, Aunt Jenna, Luke, Jason, Gabriel and Chris are left. They all help me stuffing the gifts in various cars. Luke who was peacefully sleeping till now, wakes up and starts crying.
I pick him up from the chair and pat his back soothingly to send him back to sleep. He goes back to sleep after a while and Aunt Jenna takes him from my arms.
"He must be exhausted. I'll take him home now. You can pick him up when you get free from here." She says.
"Sure" I reply. Soon Aunt Jenna and Uncle John leaves with Luke.
As time passes, I send all of my friends back home after some persuasion. But one stayed. Not too hard to guess, Chris.
I put the last gift item inside the car and shut the door. "Take them home." I order the driver. He nods and starts the car. He drives away and I am left alone with my sore feet.
Chris comes out soon. He puts his arm around my waist and I lean into him, relief courses through me just by being in his arms.
"Let's take a walk?" He asks.
I gasp. "That would not be too clever as my feet might come off." He lifts me up in bridal style in a second. "Why are you so persistent on this walk?" I whine.
"Trust me, it's for your good. Night, stars and quietness is the only thing that brings peace to your mind."
"Why are you so caring and cute? It should be a crime to be this good." I give him a peck on the lips.
He starts walking down the unknown road with a breathtaking smile on his face. This garden is in the outskirts of the city so I am not really familiar with the roads and routes here. Plus it's really really quiet here; just how I like it. No cars, no nosy people, just me and my love.
"We should sit here for some time." I say pointing at a bench on the footpath. He must me tired by carrying me all this time. Chris nods and puts me down in front of the bench. He sits beside me.
We both talk about random things and the incidents of the wedding for some time before silence settles in. It was a comfortable one. The moonlight highlights Chris's handsome manly features. His jawline, cheek bone.
"You can always click a picture, stays longer." He teases.
"That's lame pick-up line." I retort. He chuckles and nods. We both stare at each other and I don't even when we started leaning towards each other. I just know that I want to kiss him and I do. It is sweet at first but soon turns into a passionate one. I know where this will lead and if I wasn't as tired as I was, I would've wanted it but not so much right now.
We part when we hear claps. We both turn our heads to the direction of the sound. And I nearly start hyperventilating. There stands Blake, Tim, and another much older guy with them.
We both get up quickly. The first thing Blake does is taking out a gun and shooting my left leg. I scream loudly and crash on the ground. It hurts like a bitch.
"Kath!" Chris shouts as he crouches down beside me. My peach gown is now stained red. I hate red colour.
"Chris go away. Run!" I order him. He shakes his head. He the gets up and punches Blake on his jaw. Blake falls hard on the ground. I'm surprised he didn't faint at the moment.
Tim almost immediately kicks Chris in his stomach. Chris jerks back. The older man punches Chris three times. With every blow, I wince. It's like he is hitting me. Tears are continuously flowing down my cheek and I am looking pathetic. I look down at my hands.
My hairs are pulled back harshly, making me look up. It's Blake who pulls my hairs.
"You've got to see this bitch." He whispers in my ear. "You see that older guy there. He is my dad. And the boy you shot a few days ago was my brother." He slaps me hard then. I'm sure my cheek would be bruised by now. Chris is trying his best and is able to give a tough fight to both of them but he can't cope up for long.
"You feeling that helplessness? I feel that everyday when I look at my brother who is stuck to the bed for the rest of his life." Blake angrily says.
"Please. I beg you, leave him. I'm the one who shot your brother." I try to negotiate. Chris is in a really bad condition by now. He is even struggling to stand. And I am not able to do anything. I am not able to save him. This is just what happened eight years ago.
"Even if we beat you up, physical wounds would heal after some time and I'm not going to go soft on you. I'm going to do something that you will regret shooting my brother for the rest of your life." He smugly says.
I open my mouth to say something, anything but before I could, something hard hits my head and the world starts becoming black. My head is throbbing loudly by now.
The last thing I hear before fainting is Chris shouting my name.
"Katherine!" Is all I hear and the world goes black.
