It took me a while before I finally forced myself to leave Greyson's office. He clearly wasn't coming back anytime soon and it was starting to get late. I had things I still wanted to do before the pack left tomorrow morning.

Realizing it was probably best to let him cool off for the time being, I decided to look further in to the witches Patrick had tortured. Maybe if I somehow got in touch with them, I would be able to convince them to give me the antidote for all of the innocent wolves. I mean, I was supposedly distant family...

With no better place to start than asking Ivy, I headed back towards the guest house.

The sun was beginning its slow afternoon descent, which meant that war was inching imminently closer. I wished there was a way we could guarantee that no one would get hurt, but I had an even worse suspicion that Patrick had something truly evil up his sleeves.

I was determined to find out and stop it before anything came to pass. I would not lose another person that I cared about to that filthy monster.

I opened the guest house door without knocking, and headed back towards the room Ivy had last been in. I was going to scold her good if she wasn't resting, but I was sure Todd was making sure she didn't so much as lift a finger.

The door was closed, so I gave a hesitant knock.

"Who's there?" Todd's voice bellowed from inside the room. He didn't sound happy.

"It's Halle, can I come in?" I called back, unsure if I was arriving at a bad time.

When there was no response, I hollered again, "Is Ivy okay?"

There was a rustling and then the door swung open violently, smacking into the brick wall. I cringed, raising an eyebrow at the huffing Todd that reminded me of a raging bull.

"Something wrong?" I drawled out, unimpressed at the outburst. I tried to peer behind him, but he sidestepped, blocking my view of Ivy. She still hadn't made a sound.

Having had enough of his behaviour, I stepped into the room pushing him to the side. "Move."

Walking further into the room, I noticed that Ivy was motionless. I ran to her bedside, suddenly frantic. How had she declined so quickly in such a short period of time?

"Ivy!" I gently shook her shoulders, noting that she was breathing, although extremely shallow.

I could feel the heat coming from Todd's body. I whirled to face him, eyes narrowed. "How long has she been like this? Why didn't anyone come to get me?" I demanded, my worry taking on the form of anger.

Todd growled, "I just found her like this. I was tending to the other sick wolves and decided to let her rest without any interruption. She was getting annoyed with my hovering. I came back and she was nearly comatose. I was going to send someone to get you, but you appeared when you did." His voice cracked at the end.

My eyes softened. "This isn't your fault, Todd." I felt Ivy's forehead, wincing when I felt that she was burning up.

"Todd, I need you to go get me a cold bucket of water and a couple of cloths. I need to get her fever down. I also need for one of you to send for the pack doctor. I need access to his herbs and the IV drip."

He gave me a stiff nod and took off incredibly fast, shouting orders to those standing outside the door worriedly. Ivy was like their Alpha. She may not have Alphablood, but she had united this group of wolves like no other. They cared for her.

I turned back to Ivy, placing my hand on her forehead. I closed my eyes, focusing on sensing out what had caused her quick descent downhill from the last time I had seen her just hours before.
