I paced the room for what felt like hours before Bee finally started to come to.
I rushed towards her when I heard her groan.
"Grandma! Are you feeling okay?" I laid the back of my hand on her forehead, making sure she didn't have a fever. I searched her eyes for any sign of pain.
When I didn't see anything worrying, I let out the breath of air I had been holding.
Bee stared at me a moment, squinting her eyes. "Who are you?" She asked innocently.
I gasped, staring at her wide-eyed. "What?" I looked around wildly, looking for Aaron. He was sitting in the corner, eyes just as wide as mine. He slowly stood, walking towards us.
"What happened to her?" I demanded, my voice verging on hysteria. Bee was still lying on the couch Gideon had carried down to the basement after she had fainted.
I was now standing as I started to pace the room. Laughter brought me out of my panicked thoughts. Bee was sitting up, laughing deep belly laughs.
I stopped mid step as I stared at her with narrowed eyes.
"You should have seen your faces!" She hiccuped, still laughing as she tried to regain her breath. She wiped the tears that had collected at the corners.
"You did not just do that to me." I deadpanned, not realizing Bee was capable of being this mischievous. I rolled my eyes, shaking out the stress that had found its way into my shoulders.
"Okay. So lets go through the plan one last time then." I clasped my hands tightly together, terrified for what was about to happen tonight.
"Well, I don't have much to go off of, but I have a feeling that you're going to need a hand after Agatha performs this spell. A hand that only a witch can give you, into the spirit world." Bee gave a swish of her hand, as if dismissing the magnitude of tonight.
"Yeah... you've mentioned that." I sighed, trying to stay positive. "So basically, Agatha is going to perform a spell that will kill off my wolf, supposedly leaving me a full blooded witch? In order for me to break the curse..." I trailed off, pacing the cold basement floor.
"I mean, it makes sense in theory I suppose." Aaron pursed his lips in thought.
Bee stared at me a long moment. "I know you can do this, my brave girl. I just wish you didn't have to." She slowly stood; Aaron moving quickly beside her to support her if she was still unsteady.
I gave her a small, sad smile in return. I wished a lot of things weren't necessary at the moment.
I glanced at the clock on the wall. "Well... I hope Aaron knows what he's doing in case I need a hand not dying, cause' it looks like its about time to head back over there."
Aaron's face was stark white. "Uh..." He trailed off awkwardly.
I gave him an awkward thumbs up. "Reassuring, dude."
With another pained sigh, I started back up the stairs with my friends and family following closely behind. At least I had them on my side throughout all of this.
Packing into the small rental vehicle, we drove the down the quiet streets that led back towards Agatha's mansion. "It must kill you to travel like a normal person." I said wryly, glancing at Aaron with a raised eyebrow. He looked nervous.
My face softened, "Hey, I know you feel a lot of pressure with what my Grandma is leaving up to you, but just know I would never hold it against you. Just do your best, that's all anyone can do."
