I slowly peeled my eyelids apart, cringing as the bright lights assaulted my pounding headache.

Those bastards knocked me out! I thought angrily, blinking rapidly as I tried to clear my blurry vision.

When I could finally see again, I let my eyes wander the room I was currently chained- yes, chained in.

I wasn't surprised that they had opted to chain my arms and legs down, suspicious of my sudden appearance, and, I was sure, my little power trip while speaking to the Beta.

Real smooth, Halle. I wanted to roll my eyes, but the pounding in my head made me cringe at the action. I was supposed to be gaining their trust and enlisting their help, not throwing tantrums when I wasn't being respected in the way my wolf was accustomed to.

I knew that I could heal my wounds, but I wasn't sure that I wanted them to know how advanced my affinity truly was, given recent events. Most healers could only heal small wounds on others, whereas I could do much more after all of these years training underneath my mother.

A painful sense of longing shot through my body, making me shudder violently. I frowned, not knowing what had suddenly overcome me.

I was alone, and I couldn't hear anyone around me. My wounds were nothing more than superficial at this point, so I decided that I could at least heal the throbbing headache plaguing my body.

The room was bright and white. It looked like I was on a surgical table. Taking in the equipment, I decided that I was most likely in their infirmary.

"At least it's not the dungeon," I muttered quietly to myself. I pleasantly noted that someone had had the decency to dress me in a t-shirt and some baggy sweats.

I jumped when I heard the locks on the door begin to unbolt. I fought the smirk that wanted to cross over my face at the fact they deemed me such a threat.

"Ah, good. You're awake." The man from earlier stated, walking into the room. Two other men followed behind him.

"You're observant. That's always good." I responded sarcastically. He was wasting my time. I needed to see the Alpha now.

He narrowed his eyes at me, not liking what had come out of my mouth. If I wasn't in such a serious position, I might have found him attractive. His brown hair was combed back neatly and his severe expression made him look handsome in a dangerous sort of way.

One of the men behind him snickered at our staring contest, and he turned to face them with an angry glare.

"So, care to tell us why you trespassed onto our territory?" The man asked, folding his arms across his chest. He raised his dark brow in expectation.

"Like I said before, I need to speak with your Alpha. He and my father were allies once upon a time and my pack needs his help." I pressed my lips tightly together. I fought with the temper rising inside of me, knowing that it would only make things worse.

"Our Alpha is a busy man. You're going to need to give me more details than that, little one." He snapped back.

I narrowed my eyes at him, "My parents were overthrown and I need to speak with him."

The man shrugged, "That happens in our world, little girl. If your parents weren't strong enough to defend their title, the man clearly won it fair and square. I see no need to get involved on our end."
