I was staring into the striking amber-coloured eyes of Aaron, the guy I had met at the airport on the way to Greyson's pack.

I was sure I was still  gaping at him in surprise as Gideon stalked closer to his unsuspecting prey. I outwardly cringed, not knowing what Gideon would do.

"Uh-- wow." I let out unintelligently. I was still staring at him with wide eyes when Gideon finally reached us, plopping down in the seat next to mine and wrapping his arm tightly around my shoulders.

Gideon pulled me close to him as he glared up at Aaron, daring him to speak. I swore my eyebrows could have shot into outer space when Aaron barely spared him a glance.

"It's good to see you again. What are you doing out here?" He inquired lightly. His eyes kept focus on mine the entire time, ignoring Gideon's very existence. Ouch.

I could feel Gideon vibrating with anger beside me, so I gave him a hard pinch under his arm. He made an unimpressed noise, turning his glare onto me.

"I think I should be asking you that. I'm on my way back to Oregon." I lifted my shoulder in a small shrug, as if what we were doing was ones of the simplest things in the world.

He laughed, turning to face Gideon. "I'm Aaron. We met a week or so ago when she was on her way here. How long have you two known each other?"

"A while." Was all Gideon said in response. I shifted uneasily in my seat.

Aaron's eyes narrowed in his staring contest with Gideon. "You look familiar." Aaron mused, and his expression was no longer warm.

"Well they call it a small world for a reason, don't they?" Gideon hissed out in response. I looked between them in confusion. It was almost as if they really did know each other. But it definitely didn't look like a friendly reconnecting of old friends.

"Am I missing something?" I asked hesitantly. Aaron turned back towards me, shaking his head.

"No, he just reminded me of someone I used to know, is all. Want to grab a quick coffee?" He gave me the same disarming smile as when we had first met.

"No." Gideon snapped. I jerked my head to glare at him sharply. "Yes, Aaron I'd love to hear where you're off to next. Our flight boards soon so it can't be too long though."

Gideon let out a low growl and I resisted the urge to kick him. Unfortunately there was no subtle way to do that at the moment. Not that Gideon was being subtle at all anyways.

"No problem. I'll get you back here with time to spare." He grinned mischievously.

I glanced back at Gideon as we walked further down the hall. My eyebrows furrowed when his expression read one of worry instead of frustration.

What is going on here? I thought to myself as we headed towards the nearest coffee shop.

"So..." I trailed off, unsure of where to start.

Aaron laughed, "No kidding. Sorry about that. I don't think he wanted to share you."

I scoffed, "No, it's not like that. Trust me." We had reached the coffee shop so I casually browsed the menu and the little treats in the display case in front of me.

"Sure seemed like it," Aaron winked.

I shook my head, "Actually, I have a thing for his brother."

Aaron raised an eyebrow, "Keeping it in the family, eh?" He joked, causing me to roll my eyes.

"Gideon is just keeping me company. We're heading back to visit some distant relatives of mine."
