I watched with my firsts clenched together as the four of them shifted into their wolf forms. My father was a black wolf and my mother was a grey wolf with black paws.
Patrick was a giant reddish- brown wolf and Leslie a small tawny coloured she wolf.
They circled each other and I felt my heart hammering in my chest. I glanced at Patrick's son and saw him watching with hardly any interest. He caught my stare and looked up to wink at me. I bit back my growl- I didn't want to distract my parents.
I tried to watch the entire thing- I really did, but when Patrick bit into my father's shoulder and I heard my mother howl in agony I had to close my eyes.
When I opened my eyes next my heart stopped. My pack whimpered as we watched in horror as my father was pinned and Patrick positioned his sharp teeth above his neck.
I was about to scream when a hand was pressed tightly over my mouth.
"Shh," the guy whispered into my ear. I whimpered quietly as I watched Patrick taunt everyone, playing with my father's life. This distracted my mother and she was soon pinned beneath Leslie right next to my dad. Tears rolled down my face endlessly and the smell of my parent's blood hung in the air like a thick cloud.
My parents were looking lovingly into each other's eyes and I saw Patrick and Leslie get into position. I kept expecting my parents to get up and win this.
A low growl erupted from Patrick as he lunged towards my father's exposed neck, Leslie following the order and moving to end my mother's life as well. I broke free from the boy restraining me and let out a strangled scream as they tore out my parent's throats.
I ran towards them faster than I had ever moved, ready to heal them the best that I could. I could still hear their frantic heart beats that were growing fainter every second.
Before I could reach their bodies I was yanked back roughly. It was Patrick and he was snarling at me.
"They're gone. I've won and I am now your Alpha. You. Obey. Me." He ground out, gripping my chin painfully. I was feeling numb- my parent's life was seeping out of them so quickly and I knew that I could help them if I could just get to them.
The need to heal them stung my veins, burning my body from the inside out. To deny a pack doctor, even one in training the ability to save someone was the worst kind of torture that he could inflict on me- especially since they were my parents.
I growled at him, wrenching my face from his bloody hands. I made another attempt to reach them and was yanked off my feet by a burly man who must have been Patrick's Beta.
"Let me go!" I screamed with rage, kicking and biting. I decided my best bet to get away was shifting. I kicked him in the groin and jumped, shifting in mid-air. My wolf was a light grey in colour and average in size- I was built for speed. I dodged several hands and snapping jaws but before I could reach my parents I was shot in the side. I looked around in horror before realizing there was a tranquilizer dart sticking out from my skin.
I fought with everything in my being as I forced my tightening muscles to keep moving forwards. I made it to my parents and shifted back, placing my hands weakly on my parents. I felt the power leave my hands, but before I could save them my vision darkened and I lost consciousness.
I would never forgive myself for this.
I would kill Patrick if it was the last thing I did.
Unsure how much time had passed I opened my eyes slowly; still groggy and confused. My eyes widened as I recalled the few moments before I passed out. I leapt up, frantically looking around as I searched for my parents.
