Hey guys! Sorry for the slow updates- I've been revising and I got into Shameless. Anyways,I hope you enjoy this imagine❤️
You couldn't sleep.
It was nothing in particular, something in your gut telling you that sleeping was the worst thing you could possibly do. You climb out of your hammock and tie up your boots. Your heart was mysteriously pounding as you made your way to the centre of the Glade where you saw a shadow in the distance. You ducked instantly behind a pile of logs, making sure you were a far distance away from everyone when you saw it was Gally.
Your heart aches as you watch him sharpen the axe clutched in his hands. Why did he had an axe? You remember him declaring his hate toward Thomas and his hatred toward the Greenie.
That's when you realise.
Holy shuck.
"Gally..." your voice comes out broken. "Gally, are you alright?"
He doesn't look up at you. "Go away Y/N."
"Please just listen to me. You don't wanna do this. I know you don't."
He scoffs, his face lacking any emotion "you don't know Y/N. I know you side with them over me."
"Please... don't. Gally, we can't stick together."
"Shut up."
"Gally, you don't get out this alive." He shoves the axe close to your chin, glaring at you like you were his prey "and I don't want you to die! I don't... don't want you to be another tragedy, another friend we lost in this place. Please... please..."
"There's nothing else I can do."
You shake your head "yes, there is." You slowly reach out and take the axe from his hand. His grip reminds firm and tight on the weapon. "They can make stupid mistakes, but they don't deserve to die. You know that,I know you do."
"I don't..." he whispers "everything started changing, the minute Thomas showed up. This is our home. I'm doing what's right."
"Murder isn't right." You mumble, barely plucking up the courage to look him in the eye. "Please," you say. "I'm begging you to stop. This won't work if you do this."
"I don't care if I die."
"Oh, no. It costs a lot more than your life. To murder innocent people? It costs everything you are. Gally, sooner or later they will find a way out,I think they've already found it. You don't have to come with us but we are leaving. One way or another. Don't try and stop us trying to find a better life. We'll figure this out." Your hand remained tightly gripped over the handle of the axe "please,Gally."
He let's out a gentle sigh and slowly drops the axe. "Go." He mumbles "leave. Escape the Maze. See what shit you encounter but don't say I didn't warn you."
"Alright," you allow yourself to breathe "thank you. You should go Gally and not come back."
He nods "Y/N I'm sorry." He pats your shoulder before running into the night. You just watch, eyes welling with tears as you walk back to the Homestead.
"Y/N?" Thomas' voice clears the silence "you're crying, what's the matter?"
"Everything's fine." You lie, dabbing at your eyes with your sleeve "I'll be fine. Could we... maybe hug?"
"Um.. sure." He sits up,reaching out his arms to allow you to curl into them. After what you saw even the loyal and kind Thomas held felt dangerous. You clung tightly to him and squeezed your eyes shut to prevent anymore tears.
"Do you think people can go crazy because of being alone?" You ask him.
"I never thought about it," he admits, stroking your clothed right arm gently. "I think people loose people first, then they loose themselves. Just get some sleep,I'm shucking tired." You head snores quickly after then you hear a shuffle. Gally sat in the hammock opposite you, eyes burning into your soul.
"I'm only as terrified as you are." You whisper "funny, I don't remember much but I know kids are afraid of monsters. But tonight made me realise something, that the real monsters are never who we expect. Humans are the real monsters."
