(Corrie's POV)
(This may seem like kind of just a random filler chapter, and it is kind of, but it is also kinda important for later on so just bear with me ok? Thanks.)Trigger warning- Homophobia (and cussing)
~Time skip to the next day at school~
Corrie walked down the grassy quad area with Emily. It was lunch time, but they had finished eating early. They were talking about musicals and books, as they always do. "For my birthday I'm hoping my sister gets me the 'fire breathing bitch queen' patch." (A/N comment of you know what that reference is from.) Said Emily, tying up her curly dirty blonde hair into a messy bun.
Senae, Emily's girlfriend, skipped up to them. "Hey Corrie! Hey Em." She pecked Emily on the cheek and Emily blushed and smiled. Senae was a dark skinned girl who was bi, and she had also gone to middle school with Corrie. She had frizzy brown hair in a ponytail, and was holding some books.
Senae, Emily, and Corrie kept walking down the path past tables of high schoolers eating lunch and talking. Emily and Senae were holding hands, and Corrie was going on about how terrible the Percy Jackson movies were because somehow they had gotten onto that topic.
Suddenly a partially filled paper cup of water flew out of no where and hit Emily in the head, splashing water on the three girls. "Who the hell threw that?!" Shouted Corrie, picking up the cup and crushing it in her tight fist. She hated bullies and did not tolerate getting hit with food or drinks.
A boy at a table of laughing idiots stood up. "Why? What are you gonna do?" He snorted. Corrie was seething with rage but tried to calm down. Senae and Emily were trying to dry themselves off with tissues from Senae's backpack. Corrie flipped them off and grabbed some tissues to wipe her face off with. "Hey gays!" He shouted and tossed an empty Gatorade bottle. "Don't fucking dare show that gross gay PDA in our school. Don't dirty this school and spread around your gay ass germs."
This time Corrie and Emily both stopped and looked at them in silent rage. Senae was covering her face, and whispering for them to calm down. Senae knew the dangers of Corrie and Emily getting mad, and she remembered the last time homophobic jerks had tried to bully them.
Corrie closed her eyes and inhaled deeply, then breathed out through her mouth. She kept her eyes closed and laughed crazily for a few seconds. Senae muttered "Uh oh." and stepped back a little. Emily backed up a bit too, knowing Corrie. Corrie stepped up to their table. With Gatorade bottle in hand.
"Listen douche bags. I don't know where the fuck you come from, but here there's a thing called common decency. A person. Does not. Throw cups of water. At people. For holding hands." She took quick, short breaths. "What's so wrong with being queer?! You must have had a sick childhood and terrible parents to think that homophobia is okay. I'm not even fucking gay. A lot of people here are gay. And that's perfectly fine. You like girls right?"
The guy raised an eyebrow. "No shit Sherlock. I'm not gay." Corrie inhaled deeply again. "Well do you have a girlfriend."
"Yeah."
"Do you guys hold hands?"
"Yeah."
"At school?"
"Yes."
"What if I threw a cup at you guys, full of water, and yelled 'Hey straits! You're heterosexual? That's disgusting!'"
"I'd probably be mad and beat you up."
"Ahhh so it's not ok to do that to someone, is what you're saying?" He stopped, and his face looked like it was thinking. "Don't strain yourself, asshole." Corrie said, arms crossed. He opened his mouth to speak, then closed it, thought, and spoke. "W-Well that's different! Being strait is normal, but being gay is not."
Corrie rolled her eyes. She stood up on the table and got confused looks from the other jerks. She cupped her hands to her mouth like a megaphone and yelled "Who here is queer?!" Many people looked confused, but many people raised their hands. "This jerk is being homophobic!!" She yelled. Immediately all the people who raised their hands, their friends, and many other random people started coming in that direction with angry faces. She got off the table and ran to Senae and Emily. "I think we should go now." She said with a smile.
Emily and Senae thanked her for standing up for them. Grey ran up to them all of a sudden. "Corrie! That was awesome! Man they are chewing that dude out!" He said with a smile. "Well that's good. That's douche deserves a lesson." She took two puffs from her inhaler, and exhaled deeply.
She looked back to where the mob was yelling angrily. Her only fear was that it would turn violent, and she hoped it wouldn't. She didn't want to be the cause of people getting physically hurt. Suddenly she heard the sound of fist against face, and turned back to see the bully with a chance of a future black eye. It was already a little dark and getting swollen. Uh oh.
