Grey's POV
Grey walked out, nearly being knocked over by Corrie's parents as they rushed inside, looking like they'd been crying. Grey sat back down next to where Ella, Emily, and Sophia were waiting. "Soooo..." Emily said with a smug look. "Did ya guys make out?" Grey flusher bright red. "The fuck? Why would you-no, we didn't!" The girls snickered. "Well how'd it go? What'd ya guys do for that long?"
"Talked. And watched YouTube."
"Hm. Ok. A bit disappointing, but ok." Said Emily, and the girls all snickered. Grey rolled him eyes. "ANYWAYS." Said Grey, trying to change the subject. "What about school? Is there no school today?"
"No shit Sherlock, the school kind of had a shooting and kids are kinda traumatized. No der there's no school today." Said Ella, pulling up an email from the school on her phone and showing it to him. "And besides, even if there was school today, there's no way I'd leave this hospital till Corrie was all better and released." All three teens nodded in agreement.Grey read the email:
Dear students,
Because of the recent tragedy that occurred on campus, school will be canceled for this week to allow students to mentally heal from the travesty. When school resumes on Monday, there will be counselors on campus that you can visit at any period, and on Tuesday there will be a shooting drill, showing how to deal with similar situations in the future if it occurs again. The school board wishes the injured students a speedy recovery, and hopes the school can once again become a safe environment for learning and fun.
Sincerely,
Principle SorrelGrey almost wanted to laugh out loud. When was high school ever a safe environment for "learning and fun"? It seemed everyone was always on edge, fearing at any moment they'd be shoved into a locker or tripped. High school was a kill or be killed environment so to speak. Either you're a bully or you're the bullied. There was no "fun" in school. School wasn't fun unless you were a bitchy cheerleader who got whatever you wanted, or a football star who could shove their way to the top of popularity.
Grey wanted to just leave all that, all the time. So many times he wanted to just leave. He wished he could just be with Corrie and let nothing else in the world matter or exist. No highschool, no popularity, no bullying, no nothing. Except them, together.
"HellOo?" Grey was brought out of his daze by Sophie's hand waving in front of his eyes. "Huh?" He blinked and shook his head, realizing he was still sitting in the waiting area with his near insufferable friends. "Bruh, you've just been staring at Ella's phone for like five minutes. How long does it take to read three sentences?" Sophie laughed. "Oh-uh, sorry. I guess I kinda zoned. I-didn't sleep well last night I guess."
"Oof tell me about it." Ella said, taking her phone back. "Um, I gotta go real fast. Brb." Grey said, speed-walking down the corridor.
