Heartache (Completed)

Chapter 7: The CCPD

Cisco has been trying to call Barry all night. Maybe he got lucky...

Cisco felt the signature rush of air to alert him of Barry. For some reason, he looked as though he had been crying. Cisco decided not to press. 

"Who's the Meta?" he asked. "Bro, I don't know. Just have the location, which is CCPD. Pretty sure he's trying to establish dominance." Barry snorted. "Really?" he asked. Cisco nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah! Why else would he be at CCPD? Just to kill cops? To steal money? Something else? That is literally the only reason he or she would be there!" Barry had to agree; Why else would a criminal go to CCPD?

"See you in a minute, Cisco." Cisco nodded. "And when you get back, you can tell me about your date!" Barry momentarily faltered. Not looking forward to that conversation...

Barry looked around. Where was the Meta?

He suddenly got his answer as a guy with snakes in his hair walked in. Cisco, being Cisco, just had to shout, "Medusa!!!" Barry snorted. "Uhh, Cisco? Medusa was an ugly girl with three sisters. This guy is hot, probably without siblings, and robbing a bank in 2018!" Cisco sighed. "You ruin everything." 

Then, without warning, 'Medusa' turned to face Barry. Somehow, his snakes extended to face Barry. This was gonna be a pain in the neck of they bit him. Hopefully they didn't. Barry didn't want to explain a snake bite to his boss. They also took forever to heal according to research. Considering it was Barry, probably less, but still.

Barry realized that he was at least twice as fast as them, and if he fought them first, he would get bit, so he sidestepped them face the guy. "YOU'RE GOING DOWN!!!!" Medusa shouted with his voice modulator. He reminded Barry of Oliver. He almost laughed at the comparison.

Barry threw a punch, but it was easily blocked by one of the snakes. Then the guy actually tried to bite him! Barry looked at the guy in shock. "Seriously? Your gonna bite me?" Barry asked. The guy stared Barry down. "WHATEVER IT TAKES!!!!" he shouted as he tackled Barry to the ground. 

Barry felt the snakes before he saw them. To be fair, his eyes were closed from the pain, but still. They bit, and Barry could feel the venom moving through his system. He almost screamed. The pain was unimaginable. 

He decided to play dead. He figured if he played dead, then Medusa would go do whatever it was that he had come to do. Sadly, he had come to kill Barry. 

Barry could feel himself being kicked, bit, and spit on. Maybe he should go. No policeman were in trouble, and Barry was. And in pain. Quite a bit of pain. 

Barry somehow got up and ran to the door. He took one final glance around to make sure no one was in trouble. When he saw no one was, he opened the door and ran to S.T.A.R. Labs. Hopefully, they avoided the 'last night' topic. He was not ready to discuss that.

When Lisa had come in to check on him, he realized he had been set up. Thankfully, she was unaware of the one-night-stand thing, but she knew he liked the Flash. This was going to be difficult to convince her otherwise, but he needed to. She couldn't keep setting him up on dates with the Flash. His heart couldn't bear it.

"How was the date?" she asked quietly from the door. He looked up at her, and she once again reminded him of their late mother.

He was in her arms again. He could feel her shaking as he looked around to find his father screaming at the wall. He turned his head to his mother, to his father, and back. 

Suddenly, he turned from his spot to face his mother. Len could barely hear what he was saying, but he could hear snippets. "Bitch! How dare-! What do-doing!?!  You're my wife first, mother second!!!" He heard that last one extremely well. 

He looked at his mom to find her staring at him sadly. Then she turned to face her husband, and Len could see tears falling down her face. "I'm not your wife. And I'm a mother first!!!" 

Len was amazed at the courage she was showing just for him. For him. 

He saw his father pick up a lamp and aim it at the bundle in his mother's arms, but she had already set Len down. 

She looked right into the eye of the storm as the lamp sailed the wind to reach her. He could see the exact moment it hit her stomach. He could see the pain in her expression as she fell to the ground, clutching her stomach. She looked up with tears in her eyes.

Len could see her lips moving, but he couldn't hear what she was saying. Apparently, Lewis couldn't either, as Len could tell by the shouting coming from his father. "Speak up, you worthless piece of shit! What are you saying!?!" 

Instead of answering, she turned to Len and said, "Let this song help you through any tough times." She smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes.

Suddenly, Lewis walked over to her and slapped the air out of her. When she got air again, instead of begging him to stop, she turned to look at Len. She looked like shit, but all she could think about was if Len was safe.

Len stifled a gasp as he felt his sister's arms around him. He quickly put his arms around her and squeeze as he hummed his mother's song.

...

When Barry arrived, he immediately noticed Caitlin. Then he passed out.

Just because he was unconscious doesn't mean he didn't dream.
