He couldn't explain it. He suddenly felt completely content, and it was like there was never any rage or grief or anything else. It was exhilarating. It was better than any adrenaline rush.

And much, much riskier.

Because if Joe, or Iris, or really anyone, found out...

Ugh. That could not happen. He wouldn't allow it to.

He made another cut. He watched the blood slowly flow down his arm, and he couldn't help but think that it looked like ketchup.

He almost smiled at the thought.

Now, how to keep Joe, Iris, everybody else from finding out...

...

Joe was starting to worry. He knew that telling Barry about his job might not go over well, but this was completely different from how he'd pictured it.

Barry had been alone upstairs for half an hour.

Then he realized: Barry was on suicide watch. He wasn't supposed to be out of Joe's sight.

Ugh. Damnit.

This might be harder than he'd thought..

...

"Barry?" Joe shouted from downstairs, but Barry didn't hear him. He was so absorbed in the blood flowing down his arm, he didn't even care.

"Your not supposed to be alone," Joe said as he started to walk up the stairs. "Joe, I'm fine. It was a spur of the moment thing anyway. It's not like I'm going to do it again. Besides, I really need to be alone right now. I just lost my job."

Not that Barry could see, but Joe nodded and walked back down the stairs.

Barry turned his attention back to his arm. He could see his super healing was already at work.

That meant that they wouldn't find out.

Thank. God.

...

Joe had quickly realized that he couldn't keep Barry on suicide watch. He could literally kill himself before Joe could blink, and all he needed was his hand.

How was he supposed to keep him alive?

So, when Barry asked to be alone, he let him.

So, before thinking, he called Caitlin and told her that...

...

Caitlin was stressed beyond measure. Her phone call with Joe didn't help. He basically named her biggest issue: keeping Barry alive.

How the hell was she gonna do that!?!?!?

...

She finally came up with an idea.
