"Where's Snart?" Barry asked. He had been looking for him ever since the Legends had arrived. "Man, I'm sorry, Barry. I forgot that we never told you." Barry stared at him. "What happened?" he asked, praying for the best. "He sacrificed himself. Saved us all.
"He died a hero." Barry didn't know how he wasn't crying. Maybe he was in shock. "A legend," Barry said, glad that he wasn't showing his true feelings.
Suddenly, Wally arrived.
...
When he finally went home that night, Barry finally let his feelings off the leash. He ran to his apartment, (Barry doesn't live with Iris in this version) and he cried for hours. He couldn't believe it. Right before he was going to admit his feelings for Len, he had died.
He couldn't believe it. He couldn't.
He knew what he had said to Cisco, but he needed to. He couldn't live without him.
He wouldn't.
So, when he heard the what the denominators wanted, he decided to let them have it.
...
After dying, Len finally felt amazing! He was finally rid of his feelings! He didn't (Couldn't) think about Barry, Lisa, Mick, etc. He didn't care what anyone thought, if they even cared. Sure, sometimes he missed them, but not often.
He sometimes wondered what was happening in the real world, but not normally. He was perfectly content.
Then, randomly, (there is no time where Len was) a bright light appeared. Len, being a curious person by nature, walked toward it. He put his hand in, and was shocked to see it disappear.
Then he put his whole body through.
...
"I'm not letting you leave," Oliver said. "No offense, Oliver, but you and what army?"
Barry turned around to face his friends. "This one," said Kara. "Listen, Red. I don't like you. But when you got a crew, you don't take a hit for the rest."
Barry chuckled. "That was actually pretty inspiring. I mean, up until the point Mick compared us to a bunch of criminals, but..." he let it die off. "According to the Denominators, we might as well be," said Amara. "And maybe they're right. Maybe we do more harm than good, but this is our chance to find out," continued Nate.
Then Barry thought of Len, of how he was scared to be a good person, how Barry wished for just one more kiss, one more hug, one more moment. Maybe if he died, he would be able to see Len, live with him, do everything he wanted to do with him.
So, he ignored them and ran as fast as he could to where he figured the dominators' ship was.
...
Everyone was shocked. They thought that their speech was inspirational. Yet Barry had still run off.
Immediately, Supergirl gave chase. She knew that Barry was probably at least twice as fast as her, but Barry might not know that.
...
He did know that.
...
When Barry arrived, he was surprised to see that there was not a Dominator ship waiting there. He turned around to see Supergirl. She arrived right behind him, but all he could think about was Len. How he still couldn't be with him. How Len had hurt him. How much this whole situation hurt. How he still had feelings for Len, even though Len had tried to kill him.
He couldn't lose. He couldn't.
Wait.
What if he didn't have to die? What if he could stop Len from dying? He could go back, stop this entire situation from happening.
That would be perfect.
Question is, when did Len die?
Obviously, there was no way that the Legends would tell him, and it wasn't like he could catapult himself wherever Len had died, so how would he save him?
He could go back to when the Legends recruited Len. He could join the Legends, make Len fall in love with him!
Now, he remembered Oliver telling him about it when they were together...
...
Kara watched as Barry looked at where they had told him the ship was. They couldn't risk him committing suicide to save everybody.
He looked so broken, so utterly defeated, Kara couldn't help but pity him. "Barry?" she questioned, as he was starting to worry her. He was muttering something, but Kara couldn't hear what it was.
She moved closer. "Len," he said quietly, and super hearing was the only reason she could hear what he was saying, as he wasn't actually saying anything. He was mouthing it. Kara had discovered that she could use her super hearing to hear the shape that lips made when they mouthed things.
Suddenly, he looked right at her, and bolted. She tried to give chase, but it was like he was at a new level since the last time she had seen him run.
She felt tears in her eyes. Her friend had just run off to commit suicide.
...
Or so she thought.
...
This was a terrible idea, but Barry couldn't stop himself.
He ran back in time to join the Legends.
Hopefully Wally could protect Central City.
Maybe Oliver could help.
Barry got a bitter taste in his mouth. His ex boyfriend Oliver.
Screw him.
Wait, that was literally the reason they had broken up.
Never mind.
Note: #CruisingThroughTime
I modeled what Len would feel like when he died after RedQ's The Pawn on Archive of Our Own. (It's actually almost completely different, but some parts are kinda similar, and that was where I got the idea, so I decided to give credit where credit is due)
I modeled how Barry felt on what I assume went through Romeo's mind when Juliet died. (Never actually watched the movie, heard what happened. That seriously sounds like the most depressing movie ever!) And I've always wanted to write a alternate version to Invasion, part 3.
Comment if you watched Romeo and Juliet, any version. I watched the kid version, the one with the seals.
