CHAPTER 9
"Peeta, what if I am really pregnant?"
"You probably aren't. I mean, the odds of that happening and with you being young ... I guess if you are, you are. End of story."
"I never wanted to be a mother."
"I can't say I wanted to be a father either."
"Peeta, I'm scared. I'm really scared."
He pulls me into a long hug.
"I am too. You have every single right to be scared."
"I am more scared than I ever remember I was. I don't think I'm ready. To be a mother that is."
"Shhh, you'll be alright. I promise. I'll never leave your side."
"Stay with me?"
"Always."
I begin to cry at the mess I put myself into. Then, all of a sudden, I feel confused. I shrug off the feeling
"I guess I should probably test myself."
"Whenever you are ready, Kat."
"I'm not going to be ready. Ever!"
"I understand. Whenever you need someone, I'm there. You know I will always be there for you, right?"
"Yeah. I know."
"Good. Now sweetheart, you have to get some rest."
"Alright. As long as you hold me."
"I'll never let you go."
