Jonathan made his way through the woods, his boyfriend Luke right behind.
"Isn't this nice?," Jonathan looked back at Luke, "Hiking, getting fresh air, and just nature itself."
"Uh huh," Luke nodded, "It's very nice out here...We'll get back before dark right?"
Jonathan rolled his eyes at Luke's question; if there was one thing he didn't like about his boyfriend, it was that he was attached to his phone and video games. Jonathan loved video games, but he also wanted to live a healthy lifestyle. Which meant he would like to go on hikes more often since spring was around the corner.
"C'mon Lukey," Jonathan continued walking on the trail, "Try and enjoy this. And when we go home we can do something special~"
"Oh really now?~," Luke purred, "Is that a promise?"
"Mhmm~"
Luke wrapped his arms around Jonathan's waist, placing small kisses on the brunette's neck. Jonathan giggled, moving his head and nuzzling the side of Luke's head. They pulled apart and gave each other a kiss.
"I love you," Jonathan smiled.
"I love you too," Luke smiled back.
They both then ducked when something flew close over their heads.
"What the fuck was that?," Luke looked up.
Jonathan spotted an owl landing on a branch and looking over at them.
"It was just an owl babe," he giggled, "See? He's just chilling up there."
Though Jonathan began to feel uncomfortable when the owl kept looking down at him.
"C'mon," Jonathan continued forward, "We'll get to the top, and I'll know you'll love it."
The couple continued hiking until reaching a rather large waterfall, and Jonathan grinned as he looked over at Luke; Luke looked pretty amazed by it.
"See?," Jonathan grasped his hand, "Isn't this pretty?"
"Eh," Luke shrugged with a smirk, "Not as pretty as you."
"Oh stahp. Oh! Let's take a selfie!"
Jonathan took out his phone, opening up the camera and wrapping an arm around Luke's shoulders; they took three, the third one of them kissing each other.
"Perfect," Jonathan put his phone away, "Now we can go back."
"Only because it's getting dark," Luke defended himself.
They both walked back down, moving amongst the path as the sun began to set.
"Luckily we brought flashlights," Luke took out one, "You have yours?"
"Mhm," Jonathan showed his, "We should use one so that the other has battery."
"Good idea."
They froze when they heard a howl.
"What the fuck was that?," Jonathan whispered.
"I-I don't know," Luke shined his flashlight around, "I think those may be wolves."
"We should get moving then."
Jonathan and Luke quickened their pace as they heard a lot of noises around them. Just as they thought they were safe a large wolf jumped out from behind a tree. Jonathan let out a small scream as Luke held an arm protectively in front of him. More wolves appeared as they growled and snarled.
"Jonathan," Luke whispered to his boyfriend, "When I say go, book it into the woods. I'll try and draw them off of you while you run."
Jonathan hesitated, but nodded. Luke lowered his arms and shined the lights on the animals. He slowly knelt down and picked up a small rock; without warning he threw it into one of the wolves snouts, it yelping out in pain. Luke dashed off into a direction.
"Go!," he yelled at Jonathan.
Jonathan sprinted off into the woods, three of the wolves falling behind him as he ran further into the woods, He didn't look back as he climbed up a hill and onto a higher area.
Did the temperature drop, or is it just me?, Jonathan continued running, but wondered it as he felt a change in the environment.
The wolves were still after him, barking and growling as they still pursued. Jonathan heard a crunching noise and looked down to see snow underneath his feet. He finally looked around and saw that he wasn't in any recognizable part of the woods, but yet stumbling upon this dark, wintery forest. Jonathan dashed behind a large rock and heard the wolves run past. He let out a long sigh, getting up and began to walk away.
He froze as he came face to face with one of the wolves. Jonathan's first instinct, which he followed, was to punch the creature and run off again. He then was tackled by one of the other wolves, it biting into his arm. Jonathan let out a pain filled scream, socking the creature in the snout before scrambling off and dodging the two other wolves. He didn't know how much longer he could run against them until they were on top of him again.
Jonathan kicked at them, tugged their ears, and even bit back. He got up again and ran, but since one of the wolves bit into his leg he had a reduce in speed. He then came upon a river, the currently looking rather strong, but shallow enough that he could put his feet on the bottom and try and make it to the other side. Despite the risk of hypothermia, he didn't want to be mauled alive. Once seeing the wolves running up to him Jonathan jumped in, gasping at the cold and making his way over.
The bottom of the river was slippery, struggling to keep going straight, furthermore keeping his feet on it as well. Jonathan made it to the otherside, crawling onto the banks and looking back; the wolves were walking off, unhappy that their prey escaped. Jonathan stumbled to his feet and limped off further into the wintery woods. He had this off feeling of being watched, but it didn't matter as he already had wounds that were bleeding, he was almost frozen, and he was completely out of energy. Collapsing onto the snow he curled up in a small ball and shook.
I don't want to die, he felt tears come down, I want to be with Luke again. I want to go home.
Jonathan whimpered as he felt himself grow number and number with each passing minute. His vision was blurry, but he thought he saw someone walking up to him. He did feel a gloved hand press against the side of his face, two fingers going to the pulse in his neck. The hand was gone, and a warm, fabric material was placed over his body; he was picked up into strong arms and was being carried off somewhere. He moved a little, but he just couldn't keep his eyes open anymore.
"Shh," a voice said, "You're safe now. Just sleep."
Jonathan woke up with a start, gasping as he breathed heavily. He looked around and saw that he wasn't out in the woods, but in a bedroom.
Where am I?, he looked down to see he was in this loose black, long sleeved shirt, black pajama pants, and was covered with bandages.
Jonathan looked around the bedroom, noticing a backpack sitting on a nearby chair. The problem was that Luke was the last to have a backpack since he offered to carry it. This worried Jonathan a little worried, but he didn't want to panic just yet. Who was he kidding, he was already freaking out that he was somewhere he didn't recognize. It was still dark out, and the was a fire burning in a fireplace.
Jonathan snapped his head over to see the doorknob of the bedroom door turning. With a silent gasp Jonathan laid back down and closed his eyes, pretending to sleep. He could hear someone's footsteps coming closer and closer to where he laid; someone sat down on the edge of the bed, but still kept their silence. Jonathan felt a hand, almost cool to the touch, rest on his cheek and brush away some of his dark-brown bangs. Jonathan kept his eyes from opening, or even twitching, as the fingers migrated right under his eye and up his nose to remove more bangs from his face.
He then felt the fingers retreat down his face, down his neck, and over the comforter which covered his shoulder. Jonathan heard a small sigh before the bed shifted again, signalling the guy got up. Footsteps went past him and soon the door closed again. This time, Jonathan did end up falling asleep.
