Jonathan watched as the panther sniffed his hand, not making any sudden movements to send the cat into defence and offence mode. The panther then rubbed its face against Jonathan's hand before coming up close and rubbing against Jonathan.
"Aw, you're cute," he scratched behind the cat's ears, Even though I'm more of a dog person.
Jonathan stood to his feet, the cat looking up at him.
"I know you're probably busy," he said, "But it'd be nice to have some company that isn't Tenebris...I'm not ever going to be in the mood or ever be comfortable with him."
The cat walked forward down the hall, waiting for Jonathan to catch up. He smiled and walked towards the cat; they walked together, the cat nudging Jonathan away from doors he wasn't allowed to go through, even though the stone on Jonathan's neck glowed.
"There's nowhere to go is there?," he asked the cat.
The panther looked up at him, but then looked back forward while sending a small huff through its nose.
"Can I confide in you?"
The cat nodded, to Jonathan's surprise.
"I miss Evan. I miss him so much it hurts me. What's worse is that I lost his mother's necklace; the thing he trusted me to hold onto...I betrayed him too much, and now I'm paying the price for it."
They walked into a living room set up, and Jonathan sat down on the plush pillows while the panther sat in front of him. He sniffled as he felt tears rise.
"At least," he took a shaky breath, "He told me he would love me no matter what."
The panther licked his tears away, making a noise to sympathise.
"Thank you," Jonathan pet its head, "I just...really need a friend."
The large cat got up and laid across his lap. Jonathan stroked its fur as he looked at a fire waving in a fireplace, seeming to dance. The panther got up running off somewhere and leaving Jonathan alone. It then came back with something in its mouth; the necklace.
"Oh thank you!," Jonathan whispered, "Thank you, thank you...But surely Tenebris would know, wherever you got it from, that its missing."
The cat walked off again, still having the chain of the necklace in its mouth, Jonathan following. They came back to the door where the panther was previously guarding. The cat went through the door via a small cat door, but when Jonathan came up to the door the red stone was glowing brightly; he wasn't allowed in. The cat came back out, seeing the stone glowing.
"I can't go in there," Jonathan mourned, "But at least I know where it is."
"Jonathan!," Tenebris called out faintly, "Where are you?!"
Jonathan gasped, the panther nudging him off. He rushed back down the hall, standing in spot as Tenebris rounded a corner. The dark mage smiled.
"Ah, there you are," he walked up to Jonathan, "I was wondering where you ran off to; dinner is ready."
"Oh," Jonathan rubbed his arms a little, "Ok."
"Are you cold?"
"No."
Tenebris arched a brow, but turned on his heel and walked down the hall, stopping and waiting for Jonathan to join him. Jonathan made his way down; he decided to play along when Tenebris offered him an arm to hold. Jonathan clasped it lightly with both arms and allowed Tenebris to bring him closer. They walked down the hallway, back through the throne room, and going towards a dining hall.
"I made sure it was your favorite," Tenebris explained, "Since I do look through my host's mind."
Jonathan cringed at that, not liking the idea of someone invading the privacy of their own mind. The sat down and ate in silence. What came next made Jonathan sick to his stomach.
"Now, I think it's time to go to our bed. Best to get rest now then never. Shall we?~"
Jonathan looked at him in appalled disgust.
"I will NOT sleep in the same bed as you!," he snarled.
"It's either that, or another night in the birdcage."
"...I'd rather be in there than with you."
Tenebris scowled, but snapped his fingers and making Jonathan teleport back in the birdcage and chained up again. Jonathan sat on the floor and hugged himself.
I just gotta keep holding on, he laid on his side.
*dream*
Jonathan looked around to find himself in what appeared to be space, but next to a nova that was around him. Below his feet was a floor made of light, and looking at himself he was just glowing sky-blue.
"Where am I?," he thought aloud.
He saw a golden figure in the distance, and he began to walk over to them. They were on their knees and looked like they were crying.
"Hello?," Jonathan approached them, "Are you ok?"
The person's head snapped up, and they looked behind them; it was Evan.
"Jonathan?," he asked in disbelief.
"Evan!," Jonathan cried out in joy.
He ran the last few feet and leapt into Evan's open arms. Evan spun them around as they held tight to each other. They came to a stop and pulled back.
"How are you here?," Jonathan let out a breathy laugh.
"I could ask you the same thing," Evan shook his head in disbelief with a smile, "I have been so worried about you. Are you alright?"
"I'm ok for now, but, Tenebris, he has Luke's feelings for me."
"Did he try anything?"
Jonathan took a deep breath.
"He did kiss me," he let it out shakily, "But I didn't kiss him back I swe-"
Evan smashed his lips on Jonathan's, both of them melting into it. They pulled back for air.
"I won't let him harm you," Evan frowned, "Where are you now?"
"In a birdcage chained up. It was that or his bed."
Evan growled.
"He chains you up?"
Jonathan showed his cuffs and collar; Evan tried using magic to get them off, but nothing happened.
"Magic must not work in this realm," Evan hummed, "Is there anything I should know about these things?"
"There's a stone on my collar, it glows when I get too close to a "forbidden room". If I go in I'll get caught. Also, there's this panther that guards this-"
The floor rumbled, almost throwing the pair off balance.
"What's happening?!," Jonathan looked around.
A little ways from them the floor caved in, a vortex swirling around; Jonathan was getting sucked in.
"Jonathan!," Evan grabbed his hand when Jonathan was pulled off the ledge.
Both knew the vortex was too strong, and Evan was losing his grip. Jonathan began to break off in pieces that went in.
"Evan listen!," he desperately looked up, "The panther was guarding a door! Lòͅo͕̦ͨ͒kͮ ͙̓ḟ͕o͎͋ř ̲̥̊͗a ͉͈ͤ̊gỏ̰l͙̄d ̥̦̿͛do͕̥ͬͫoȓ̮̬͒͂ͅ!͚ ̱̩̄͒I͓̓n̠̮̥̏ͮͣs͑i̇̀ḏ̫͕͂̓̐e ̖̋i̝͚̓́s̲̞-̺"
Jonathan's voice was distorted as his figure fully shattered and was sucked into the vortex.
"J̝̏o͇͚̍̚̕n͕͔͕͛̽̍͝a̱̥̹t͔ͨ̀h͉͙̲̄ͮ́a͈̦͙n҉̹!͇̦̐ͮ ," Evan called after.
He noticed his voice became distorted, and the floor underneath his collapsed, sending him into darkness. The world around him felt cold.
*end dream*
