Jonathan spent the next day out in the garden, four wolves that he bonded with following him; there was Crystal, then Charlie, then Katie, then Saber. Jonathan giggled as Katie jumped next to him, knocking into him a little, but not enough to send him tumbling to the ground.
"Easy there," he sat on a bench, luckily not covered in snow.
Jonathan took the small basket Charlie was carrying for him and took out a small handful of bird seeds. All four wolves went to his side as he tossed the bird seed out, birds going  for it at first sight. One small bird landed on Jonathan's lap, tweeting at him.
"Aw," Jonathan let the bird climb on his finger, "What a cute little bird you are."
He scooped a little seed out and let the bird on his other hand to eat out of it. Jonathan giggled at it, feeding more birds as he enjoyed the peace. He then thought back on how he and Luke, on their first date, sat together in a park and relaxed for that day. Saber nudged Jonathan's knee.
"I know, I know," Jonathan patted his head.
Crystal huffed, letting out a noise as she buried her snout under Jonathan's arm. Katie, Saber, and Charlie decided to run off, Crystal, being closer to Jonathan, stayed with him as the birds flew off, leaving the garden to be quiet. Jonathan stood to his feet and continued walking, Crystal following close by his side. Jonathan spotted an owl flying overhead.
"Hi Evan," Jonathan greeted.
The owl landed on the ground, changing back into Evan. Evan had his cloak around him as he offered Jonathan a toothy grin.
"Hi Jonathan, how are you?"
"Eh. I'm ok."
"Mind if I join you?"
"No, I don't mind."
They walked together, Crystal hearing the other wolves calling out and trotting away to join them. Evan looked over at Jonathan, seeing how the light reflected in his eyes as they looked around.
"Evan?," Jonathan looked over at him.
"Hm?," he responded.
"Do you have an amulet like your mom?"
Jonathan still had the necklace Evan gave him, always keeping it close to him.
"I do actually," Evan pulled his out.
It was a tiny gold cylinder, the carving of Horus with a tiny red stone atop his head, and other little carvings around the top rim and bottom rim.
"It's pretty," Jonathan complemented.
"Thank you," Evan spoke, "My father gave it to me when I was five; he has one too...but he...sort of lost it I guess..."
Jonathan saw sadness return to Evan's eyes as he let go of his pendant to hold onto his mother's. He shook his head.
"I wish you could meet them," he whispered, "They would've loved you."
"They probably wouldn't mind me," Jonathan overlapped Evan's hand with his, "They seemed like very nice people."
"They were."
They made eye contact again, and Evan brushed away some of Jonathan's hair as he leaned in. Jonathan didn't know what to do but just let him kiss him softly, nothing rushed or rough. Evan cupped Jonathan's head and continued to kiss him as Jonathan just stood there and only kissed back a little. They pulled away, and Evan could see this hurt in Jonathan's eyes; he let go of him.
"I'm going inside," Jonathan mumbled, walking past Evan.
Evan just continued to stand there, feeling stupid as he abandoned the memory of Jonathan's heartbreak not too long ago.
I love him, he looked a little up into the sky, But I have to remember that he is fragile...He would break in my arms if I'm not careful enough.
Jonathan was sitting in the living room, a cup of tea cradled in his hands as he circled the rim slowly with his finger.
I shouldn't have kissed him back, he slumped a little, I'm not ready to hop into another relationship. Not after...
Jonathan rubbed his face, already tired of just thinking about it. Evan strided in, something a little off about his stature though; he looked peeved.
"Evan?," Jonathan looked at him, "Are you ok?"
"Hm?," Evan looked over and then offered a small smile, "I'm alright."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes...Is there anything you would like to do today?"
"I'm not sure. There isn't really much to do."
"Well...Have I showed you the moon pool?"
Evan lead Jonathan outside and into the woods, catching sight of one of his wolves and following them till they reached a cave. Jonathan was a little wary, but Evan held out a hand for him to take; he took it and was guided inside and down into it. After a few more feet they found this pool of water where wolves were conjugated together and relaxing. Crystal spotted Jonathan, getting up and running over to him to greet him.
"Hey sweetie," Jonathan petted her.
"Wolves allow certain people to enter here," Evan explained as he patted Saber's head, "Believe me, it's a privilege and honor to be here. But now we wait."
"Wait for what?"
"It's called a moon pool for a reason."
Nightfall came, and moonlight seeped in through a hole in the ceiling, making the water seem to glow blue as the wolves seemed calm now, like their animal side wasn't quite present at the moment. Jonathan was in amazement at the beauty of it all; Evan carefully wrapped an arm around his waist as they sat there with the wolves.
"So," Jonathan looked a little confused, "What is the point of this? Not saying it in a bad way though."
"Wolves are sort of known as "children of the moon" sometimes," Evan explained as best as he could, "Them being present here shows that sort of. They are resembled as loyal to their pack; their family. But another fact that only a few wolf packs have a moon pool to protect, moon pools, in mage history, have been known to reveal the truth about one person that it can choose. But that's-"
The water rippled and slowly rised to form a circle. The wolves stood on their feet and seemed to prance on their feet as they made a bit of noise. In the middle of the circle showed none other than Jonathan, showing clips from his childhood. It then showed a young Jonathan out on a hill, blue light coming from his eyes as above in the night sky was a full blue moon. The water collapsed and went back into the pool as the wolves went crazy and started barking. Evan let out a loud whistle, and they all went quiet.
Jonathan already had this secret with him; for many years every time there was a blue moon there was this energy that would just stir in him, and come out as light streaks from the corners of his eyes. It wasn't like he could stop it, it just happens. Evan looked at him with wide eyes.
"Did you know about this?," he asked.
"Well, yeah," Jonathan rubbed the back of his neck, "I didn't know if it meant anything. I never told anyone, and I always whenever it happens."
Evan kept silent.
"Have you used any magic at all? Any spells?"
Jonathan froze.
