You lay flat on your back in your bed, your bare back against the pillows as Angela stitches you back up.
"Didn't I tell you not to exercise so rigorously with your stitches in?" She sighs, weaving the needle in and out of your skin.
"It's stress relieving for me," you say, going along with your lie, "and as you can probably see, I'm under a lot of it right now."
Angela places a large bandage over your fresh stitches. "I understand, but that's no excuse to—"
"Cadet {L/N}, report to Commander Morrison's office immediately," Athena calls out. Dread fills every fiber of your being.
"W-Well, I need to go!" You stand up and slip your grey tee shirt over your head.
Angela crosses her arms and glares at you. "Moonlight... what did you do...?"
"I dunno!!" You exclaim, running out of your room.
"Oh, don't run!!" Angela exclaims, sighing and holding her head once you leave. "Why do I even bother?"

"So, Miss {L/N}, if that even is your real name." Jack towers over you from behind his desk, causing you to sink into your chair and fidget with your engagement ring. "Care to explain yourself?"
"Well... I—"
"SHUT IT," Jack barks and you nearly jump onto the floor, "You roundhouse kicked my jaw while I was performing an arrest! I am your superior, your commander! I might as well arrest you too and turn you in for being the Whisper K—"
You slam your hands on the desk and stand from your chair. "I am NOT the Whisper Killer anymore!! I joined Overwatch to start a new life!! That part of me is DEAD. I am Overwatch Cadet {Y/N} 'Moonlight' {L/N}, soon to be Mrs. {Y/N} McCree, and NOBODY CAN TELL ME THE FOOK OTHERWISE."
Jack stares you down, his glare from behind his visor deeply cutting down your confidence. You slowly sit back down and avoid eye contact.
"You seem very dedicated to Overwatch." Jack slowly sits back down. "If you want to stay, you'll need to do me a favor."
"What kind of favor?" You cross your arms as Jack slides a thumb drive across the desk to you.
"A solo mission. Infiltrate Talon HQ and retrieve the information of their best sniper. If you can get their information, we'll have an advantage over Talon. You have twenty-four hours to come up with a plan."
You take the thumb drive and look at it. "What's the call sign I should be looking for?"
"Widowmaker."
"Understood, sir." You stand up and leave his office without being dismissed. Even though he's your commander, you've lost all respect for him.

"A solo mission!?" Jesse exclaims, completely in shock. "That's suicide!"
"I know." You groan, examining a layout of Talon HQ.
"I mean, it just don't seem fair!" Jesse sits up, gesturing at you with his brand new prosthetic arm. "Before I joined, I was a criminal. All I had to do was join to avoid goin' to prison!"
"But I already joined, and I'm being threatened to be taken to prison!" You hold your head as you circle the entrances of the base. "Morrison has something against me, I'm sure of it. He's got it out for me. I'm honestly considering naming this mission 'Operation: Jack Morrison Can Suck My Dick.'"
Jesse snorts and laughs, stopping when he sees your completely deadpan expression. "You're serious?"
Your emotionless face slowly begins to show emotion. Sadness. You bury your face in your palms and begin to cry.
"W-whoa, whoa!" Jesse exclaims, putting his hand on your back. "Hey there, sweet pea! What's wrong?"
"I just wanna— start— a new life!!" You gasp between sobs.
"Oh, baby..." Jesse holds you close and comforts you. "You are startin' a new life!"
"I don't— wanna be— Whisper— anymore!!" You shout.
"Honeybee, you're not Whisper! You're my fiancée, {Y/N}!" Jesse kisses you all over your face. "I didn't fall in love with ya because you're a murderer! I fell in love with ya because you're a kind, beautiful girl who I wanna spent my life with. Now you're gonna go on that mission, get the info, and tell Morrison to eat shit!"
You wipe your tears and sit up. "You're right! I'm going to prove to him that I'm not a hired gun and that I'm completely capable of being a member of Overwatch!" You kiss Jesse's head and stand up, picking up your pencil and notes.
"That's my girl!" Jesse laughs as you walk out of the room with an unfamiliar confidence. You walk into your room and spend hours sitting on your bed, planning your mission out to the finest detail. You prepare for every possible outcome and scenario. After you're done planning, you begin stockpiling ammunition and medkits, since you won't be there with a healer. Once you're satisfied with your plan, you go to bed early.

You sleep through your alarm and wake up at 8 instead of the usual 5:30. You go straight to the empty mess hall, barefooted and in your tee shirt and sweatpants, and have a healthy, low-calorie breakfast. After you're done eating, you run back to your quarters and grab your sneakers to do work out. In the training range, you do some target practice, body circuits and core exercises to get ready. Afterwards, you stretch out and go to put some finishing touches onto the slideshow you prepared for Jack that details your plan. You lay everything out on your bed and head down to Jack's office, your work in your arms. You lean against the wall and knock on the door.
"Commander Morrison," you call out, "I'm ready to show you the plan."
The door slides open after a few seconds, revealing Jack standing face to face with you. "I didn't call you down."
"I decided to come on my own time," you say, nose upturned as you walk into his office. You sit in the same chair you sat in yesterday as Jack sits behind his desk.
"Tell me the plan."
You go into a long, detailed walkthrough of your mission, naming it "Operation: Redemption." Jack listens to every word you say, nodding and asking questions. You answer every question with details.
"...and once I get to the top of Vantage Point K," you explain, trailing your finger across the buildings layout, "I can exit through the window panel and silently take out the three guards on the roof. About a few blocks away, the aircraft will be waiting for me."
Jack leans back in his chair. "I hate to say it, but I'm impressed. I'll let you go through with the mission. If you succeed, I'll consider promoting you to our strategist. Go get ready, the aircraft will leave at midnight tonight."
You stand up and leave after gathering your materials. "Thank you."
You walk back to your room and collapse face first onto the bed. You glance at the thumb drive resting on your bedside table. Slowly, you roll over onto your back, rolling too far and falling onto the floor. After the surprise subsides, you lay on the floor and laugh at your situation. After a few seconds, you stop laughing and sigh. If he was here, Jesse would be laughing with you. You stand up and walk to your closet to get your uniform. You take your Overwatch uniform off of its hanger, looking down to where you were shot. You stick your index finger through the small hole outlined with blood. How the hell did a bullet pierce through the body armor? You sigh, reminded of that night. Your eyes drift to the outfit next to your uniform. After starting at it for a while, you quickly abandon your blue and white uniform in exchange for a skintight black dress. Your old uniform. You lay the dress on your bed, glancing back at the jacket of your Overwatch uniform. You grab it from the hanger and place it, along with your jump boosting boots, with your dress. You make some final preparations, then take a six-hour power nap.
You wake up when the moon is out and instantly get ready. You drink multiple cups of coffee and Five Hour Energies (it must've been at least 22 little bottles, equating to over 110 hours of energy.) This isn't the first time you've needed to stockpile energy drinks to stay awake for missions, so you aren't as shaky as when you first started doing it. You feel completely alert and active. You stealthily run to your quarters, as not to disturb anyone else who may be sleeping. After zipping up your dress and slipping on your boots, you grab your supplies, strap Clover to your back, and head to Jesse's room before you do anything else.
Slowly, you open the door and creep in without making a sound. You lean over Jesse, who's asleep in his bed, and kiss his forehead.
"I love you," you whisper. You feel a hand wrap around your waist and pull you into the bed. In the dark, you see Jesse smirking at you, his tired eyes half lidded.
"Did ya think I'd let ya leave that easy? Ya gotta be quieter if ya wanna be sneaky." Jesse plants kisses on your shoulder and neck, causing you to giggle quietly.
"I didn't make a sound!" You insist, looking at Jesse with a cocked eyebrow. "Wait... you were awake the whole time. weren't you?"
"I've been found out," Jesse chuckles, moving his hand to your lower back, "what're ya gonna do 'bout it?"
You bite your bottom lip and straddle Jesse, leaning in close to his face. "Oh, you have no idea what I'm gonna—"

Vvvvvvt! Vvvvvvt!

You pull your phone out of your bra and look at the alarm you set.
"What's up, baby doll?" Jesse asks, running his hand up and down your thigh.
"I need to go," you sigh, swinging your leg over Jesse's head and sliding off the bed, "we can continue this if I get back."
Jesse holds your hand. "What's all this 'if' nonsense? It's when ya get back."
"You're right." You give Jesse a long kiss goodbye before running to the hangar.
