You shamble up to Angela's office and Jesse knocks on the door. You look down at the floor and see a soft blue light emanating from under the door.
The door slides open, and you're met with a slender, white figure. An omnic, unlike any you've ever seen. Her blue, glowing face is soft, with features like a cherub. Her eyes widen when she sees Jesse. He looks equally as surprised.
"Echo..." Jesse says, "it's you."
"It's nice to see you too, Jesse." Echo smiles, then looks down at you, extending a slender hand. "Here, take my hand. I'll help you out."
You place your hand in Echo's and she leads you into the room. You sit down in a chair.
Jesse follows you both into the room. "How did you even get here?"
"I hitchhiked all the way from Route 66." Echo extends her floating wing-like limbs and sits in them like a chair, turning to look at you. "Now, what happened? You look a bit shaken up."
"I... u-um..." you sigh, "panic attack."
"I see." She stops and thinks to herself for a second. "Maybe I can try something... you look like you need to hear some reassurance from yourself."
A light shines into your eyes as Echo scans your body from head to toe.
You hold your arm in front of your eyes "What are you..."
A blue light fills the room. "Adaptive Circuits engaged: Moonlight."When the light fades, you come face-to-face with... you. A blue projection of yourself. You stare wide-eyed at the projection.
"Echo has the ability to change her appearance to whoever is in front of her." Jesse says, leaning against the wall.
"Hi." Echo says, in your own voice.
"Um... hi," you reply.
Echo, as you, takes your hand and sits you on the floor with her. "Listen, I don't know what you're going through, and you don't have to say. But you are so, so strong. You are unbelievably resilient and beautiful. Life can be really hard so much of the time. Life is hard right now. It's hard to think about everything you've gone through and relive them over and over again. Right now, you're suffering. And that's okay. It's okay to just break down and cry just to let your emotions flow out all at once. That doesn't make you weak or pathetic. You are never, ever alone. You will always have yourself, and you will always be your own closest friend. Take care of yourself. You are valid, as well are your emotions. And remember that I love you."
You're completely broken down. Tears and snot are streaming down your face as you hiccup between sobs. You throw yourself into your double's arms and wail your heart out. Hearing those reassuring words in your own voice, words that you could never look in the mirror and tell yourself, makes you so happy.
Echo reverts to her normal self and strokes your hair as you bawl into her lap, like a mother would with her child after the family pet passed away. She hums a soothing tune to you until you can't cry anymore.
