The fight

I was confused on what to do. The logical part of my brain kept telling me to run but my legs were too scared to move. I kept watching the fight and I was freaking out. What was happening? What do I do?

I looked around searching for a weapon to hold in case I needed it, and luckily for me I found one of Trisha’s wood knifes. I turned just in time to evade a knife thrown out of thin air.

“Watch where you aim that thing Trish”. I said before hiding behind a tree.

“Am sorry, I’ll be more careful. It’s not like am fighting someone”.

I sighed at her sarcastic tune. I peeked beside the tree to see what was going on. Trisha was still aiming wood knives at Chase who kept hitting them with her swords but some of the wooden knifes still managed to graze her.

It amazed me how she was able to fight with such heavy weapons but that was less shocking than seeing Trisha control plants. Am I scared out of my mind? Yes but she is not trying to kill me like ‘crazy me Chase town’.

Okay, I had to work on my name's calling.

Things were going well until Chase hit her leg on the ground hard, which caused a minor earth shake which also caused Trisha to lose her balance and fall to the ground.

Chase walked closer to her before landing a kick right to her stomach. She turned to me and smiled before hitting her repeatedly. I had no idea what to do but I knew I had to help  friend.

I took the knife in my hand and aimed it at her. Surprisingly, the knife pierced her skin. I was aiming for her chest but it pierced her ankle. She screamed in pain and I used the opportunity to haul Trisha’s body behind the tree.

I looked at my friend, worry creeping into me. Trisha opened her eyes, groaning in pain she rolled at of my hands into the grass and held my hand firmly. I was about to ask what she was doing when I saw her turning green. Her skin was in sync with the forest and so was mine.

From the corner of my eyes, I could see Chase bend over to remove the knife from her ankle. She removed it and to my greatest surprise, the skin closed off completely. She looked up searching for us but for some reason she could not see us.

After what felt like hours of her searching for us, she groaned before taking out her phone and calling someone.

“I lost them”. She said before turning around to walk back to wherever I was held. Trisha released my hands and whatever thing she did faded away. “

You need to rest Trish”.

“Am fine, we have to leave before she comes back”.

She struggled to her feet before turning around and heading east and I stood to follow her. After walking for hours, I was starting to think we were lost.

“Trish, are you sure you know where we are going”.

“Yes”.

“Yes! That’s it. Am going to need more than yes. We’ve been walking for hours and am getting tired”.

“you’re tired . I was the one who had to save your ass and fight Chase”.  She sneers angrily.

“It’s not my fault I got kidnapped so for you to put that on me is not fair”.

“you’re right, am sorry”. She apologized.

We smiled at each other before we continued on our walk. After three hundred and sixty two steps, we finally made it out of the forest. Civilization, I have never been this happy to see cars and other human beings.

“where are we going?” I asked again.

“To a motel, we need to shower and change out of these clothes. And am sure you have lots of questions for me”.

Lots of question, that was the understatement of the year. I had tons but I knew it had to wait. We booked a room, which was not bad. Everything in the room screamed cheap and old but it could have been worse. I guess being kidnapped and nearly killed made me appreciate things more.

We took turn showering before changing out of dirt filled clothes. We washed our clothes as best as we could while putting on the motel’s t- shirt, which Trisha bought. Trisha looked out the window before sitting on the bed; she looked at me expectantly before tapping the other side of the twin bed. I immediately understood she wanted me to sit, which I did.

“It’s time for me to answer your questions Mia”.
