“I’ve never seen flames that white”. A voice whispered behind me.Turning my head, I saw Trisha standing before me. She was healed and all injuries from her battle gone.
Trying and failing to come up with an explanation, I decided to accept the vampire concept.
Heaven knows I have seen way to many evidence. I turned back to Chase or her remains, and knelt down before it, horrified of what I had just done.
Chase was hardly recognizable, her body slowly turning to ashes.
“I don’t know what happened. I was scared, hurt and angry and I kill- killed her”.
I stammered out to Trisha. She knelt before me, putting her hand on my shoulders as a sign of comfort.
“Listen to me. This was not your fault”.
“Not my fault, I killed her. I killed a human being”.
“But she’s not human. A vampire, a murderer that’s what she is”.
“And that’s what I am. A murderer”.
“Maybe, but I don’t think defending yourself makes you a killer. Mia, this is a new world and this world it’s killed or be killed. You just made a choice”.
I was not sure if that was the right choice but it got Chase out of my life.
“Her body, what are we going to do with her body? We have to destroy the evidence before someone sees, am not ready to go to jail or vampire jail”.
“Mia calm down, and vampires hardly go to jail. Their hearts are ripped off”.
“Oh! How reassuring, please note my sarcasm”.
Not even bothering to answer me, she walked away.
“Wait her body”. I ran after her.
“Once the sun comes out, she would be nothing but ashes”.
“You said the sun couldn’t burn gifted”.
“Yes but she’s dead. Not much of a gifted anymore”.
It was so interesting how the vampire world worked, but if I had a choice, I would want to go back to my boring normal life.
I looked up and I could see the sun rising. Turning around, Chase body was as good as ashes.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“Home, you’re finally going home”.
Home, I frowned thinking about my parents. What the hell did she mean by home?
“I can’t go back to my parents, not with all this going on. That would put them in danger”.
“No not your parents, your sire”.
