She grabbed my arms and hooked it in hers. We walked together, with Trisha silently following behind us.

I told her everything. About my human family, my friends in high school and college and even about Ana.

I told her about the events with Chase. For some reason, I felt like I could tell her anything and everything.

It was nice opening up and as I did I felt like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders.

“I must say, you never thought your life would be like this?” She inquired.

“Yeah. Never in a thousand years”.

“Now you’re a vampire. Time flies when you live forever”.

This was the second time someone forgets am not fully vampire.

“So, what power do you have?” I asked.

“Am an empath”.

“Who gives fatal psychic blows”. Trisha happily added.

“Yes. I know that’s very ironic considering an empath is supposed to feel people’s emotions and not cause them harm”.

“Not ironic enough”. She smiled at me and her grip loosened. She stepped back from us and nicely said.

“Am afraid this is where I have to leave you. Duty calls”.

She turned her back to leave us but not before saying “Have fun, but not too much”.

We laughed at her comment and she disappeared with speed like all vampires seemed too.

“Isn’t she great?”

“Yeah, she really is. So what’s your relationship with her?” I asked.
“Well, I guess you could say my mother figure. When I just turned, I was in lust. All I felt was hunger and pain. I was desperate to feed and I was out of control. The person who brought me out of that was Dvina.

She took me under her wing, trained me, and taught me everything I know now”.

I was sad about the pain she went through. I didn’t need to imagine, because I lived through it, but I was also glad she had someone like Dvina to care for her like a family would.

Speaking of family, reminded me of mine. Especially my mum, remembering all her nagging made me smile

“Don’t you ever miss your family?” I asked but she only laughed, but I could tell they were hints of sadness.

“Mia, my family are long gone. Now, come on, let’s get you back to your room before lady Serena thinks you’ve gone missing again”.

Missing, that was one way to put it. Not arguing with her, I followed behind as she led the way to my room.

We safely reached my room and I joyfully collapsed on my soft comfy bed.

“What an active day I had, it made me really tired”. I sang out.

“Tired? What the hell did you do?” Her question was filled with disbelief.

“I will have you know, I did a lot of stuff”.

“Like what?” Again, she had that ‘disbelief’ tone, which I hate very much, but I was determined to prove her wrong.

“Like learning about the messed up vampire history”.

“Yes, am sure that was so much work”. Her sarcastic tone did not go overlooked but I was set on ignoring her.

“And the walk we took, meeting new people always put pressure on me, and the more pressure put on me, the more I get tired”.
