“Don’t scare the poor girl Lucien”.

Serena said to Lucien and I smiled a little at that.

“I was hoping you could tell me more about who I am”.

“Yes, as you well know you are a vampire, not just any vampire, but my heir. Long ago, they was a war between the two factions. The purebloods also known as the Lethic faction thought there were superior to us”.

“Why?” I interrupted.

“Because they choose to procreate biologically and not turn”.

I stood from my chair and walked around for a few seconds, all the information was driving me crazy.

"I don’t get it, why do you choose to turn, why not increase your ranks through the lethic way?”

“You see, when the first vampire was made, he had a child and turned a human. That child as we know now is Travis, and the human he turned was I”.

Holy shit, my sire was old, like crazy old. Not uttering my thoughts, I sat and waited for him to continue.

“Travis had offspring with humans who died in childbirth. His offspring had children with humans who also died in childbirth.

After the numerous deaths of humans, it was later discovered that vampire females could bear children.

Therefore, the vampires had children with each other.  However, the discovery of this caused a war between the two factions.

The Lethic factions believed themselves to be superior to us because they were born, and us the bitten should bow to them. This caused war between the two factions, many vampires and humans were killed.

I couldn’t sit and watch my people die for nothing, so I made a plan, a simple plan. I would turn a vampire who can be an anchor to Travis.

Of course, Travis laughed at my face and said, that wouldn’t be possible but I was determined to prove him wrong. I knew there was a fifty percent chance that my plan would work and a fifty it wouldn’t, but I had nothing to lose.

As the oldest and strongest turned vampire, I gathered my people together and we formed the Baeryn faction. I turned as many female as I could and waited for one to show the sign of being Travis’ anchor but all were unproductive. I was just about to give up hope, when I saw you."

"You jumped off a window and slowly slipped out of your house. I followed you in interest for days and then turned you. Yes, I can still remember it like it happened yesterday. I remember how you happily walked around, unaware of the dangers around you. I remember the look on your face when you saw a lifeless body on the ground, only it wasn’t lifeless. You ran to me in fear, but determination also. You were determined to help, in what way you could”.

My skin paled, when flashes of memories hit me. I remembered the joy of leaving my mother’s home behind, the joy of exploring the night and then....  then the terror of being bitten.

I remember pleading for death but it never came. All I felt was hunger, so much hunger. I remember the blood lust, the need to kill, to hunt the night, and kill. I remember a man soothing voice, telling me everything was going to be fine.

“You remember”.

It wasn’t a question. Somehow, he knew.

“Yes”. I managed to whisper out.

“Good, soon you will have all your memories Vanessa. Should I continue?” He asked.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to know more but I nodded.

“When you finally turned, I knew you were what I have been searching for. Your powers only confirmed it. Your powers were the opposite of Travis.

While Travis’s power was made in darkness, you had light. While Travis killed, you healed. Your powers could cause death, but that wasn’t what you used it for. You cared about nature, humans, and vampires. You made it so easy to love and I was unhappy to give you away, but I had to. Our people’s life depended on it. You were not happy about the situation, but you did it anyway. Everything was happening so well, until the Blade faction ripped your heart out”.

I flinched, not at the words but the memories. The sadness I felt at being married off, the pain I felt when my heart was… I shook my head at the memories, refusing to dwell on it. This was getting real, I felt like I was suffocating in information. My head was hurting, trying to process everything, I felt like I was falling, repeatedly. I closed my eyes and tried to bottle in my emotions, my hands were hot, very very hot. Reopening my hands, I saw there were white light flames, like the one I used on Chase.

“What’s happening?” I screamed out, but my sire merely walked closer and brushed his hand on my hair.

“Calm child, everything will be fine. Now sleep”.

At his command, I dropped lifeless.
