Utkarsh's disdain for Avantika was palpable, and as Monika tried to manage her intoxicated mother amidst the gathering crowd, it felt like the world was watching their private turmoil unfold. They are definitely going to make a so-called tamasha in front of everyone. Another news media is going to include The Wadhwan's name.
Karan, unable to bear the sight of Avantika's vulnerability, shot a glare at Utkarsh and moved closer to assist. Before he could reach them, Utkarsh intercepted, his face hardened with resentment. He swiftly lifted Avantika into his arms despite Monika's protest.
" No need, I can handle my mother," Monika objected, but Karan gently restrained her. With a determined stride, Utkarsh carried Avantika towards the secluded back gate, away from prying eyes and media attention.
Karan signaled for his driver, and they carefully settled Avantika into the car. Monika sat beside her, her jaw clenched with worry. Inside the vehicle, Monika cradled Avantika's head in her lap, her touch gentle yet filled with unspoken concern.
Utkarsh hurriedly took the front seat, his eyes occasionally darting towards the back to ensure Avantika was stable.
The car journey was tense, the silence punctuated only by the soft hum of the engine. Monika kept a watchful eye on Avantika, checking her pulse and gently rubbing her hands to warm them. Midway through the drive, Avantika stirred, her consciousness returning. Monika reassured her, urging her to rest.
Utkarsh couldn't help but steal glances towards the backseat, torn between his aversion towards Avantika and the uneasy feeling of seeing his father in such close proximity to her.
Finally, they arrived near Monika's house. The car slowed to a stop, and as they helped Avantika out, Monika's heart was heavy with a mixture of gratitude and frustration.
" Mom! Let's go, " Monika urged gently.Avantika opened her eyes, and with Monika's support, she stepped out of the car. Utkarsh and Karan moved to assist, but Monika waved them off.
" Thank you very much, Mr. Wadhwan. All of you can go now, " she said curtly.
Utkarsh couldn't believe her rudeness, while Karan stayed put, his expression impassive.
The security guard from the gate approached to help. Together, they slowly guided Avantika inside the house. Utkarsh stood by the gate, watching them, then started to follow, but Karan stopped him.
" Utkarsh, no."
" Dad, I won't tolerate this drama again," Utkarsh snapped, striding into the house, leaving Karan outside.
Inside, they tucked Avantika into bed, covering her with a blanket. The security guard quietly left, but Utkarsh waited in the living room, simmering with anger.
" As ungrateful and stubborn as you are, plus you don't have any manners. Do I need to teach you how to behave in public? Is getting drunk your idea of being classy? " he spat.
Monika, exhausted and irritated, looked at him. " I think I'm done with you. Just go now. "
Utkarsh gritted his teeth and sank onto the sofa. " Excuse me? " Monika said, bewildered.
